Re: rear wheel bearing advice?

The bearings should come out easily as they are not pressed in or anything. For me it was more difficult to get the seal out as i didn't have any replacements back then. Do you have a workshop manual? I have some digitalised so i can send you a copy if needed.

Re: 411-412

Gear boxes changed clutch slave cylinder location from earlier models as well, not sure if any internal changes occurred. There were many changes made to the mechanical parts over the years and there were three different final ratios if i remember correctly. The Variant models had shorter ratios th...

Eber takes from 0.2 to 0.7 litres/hour. It uses more petrol when the engine isn't producing heat. So drive hard to save petrol!

Looking similar.... but something has changed since... http://www.tunacan.net/t4corner/pics/custom_wagon.jpg Taken from tunacan.net where i found the picture: "Total VW magazine ran this car as a feature in the spring of 2000. It featured the stock 1700cc engine, lowered suspension, 17" custom wheel...

Re: Please help: Type 4 diecast model wanted

There has been several manufacturers making 411 model cars but only three who made 412's. 411's were made by: Siku (2-door, early car with oval headlights, hidiously expensive) Schuco (2-door, early car but less expensive) Stelco (2-door, sinlge piece molded plastic) Märklin (4-door with every door ...

I have several different wiring looms, relays, switches etc. for the Eberspächer BA4 heater. I'm currently restoring a 4-door 412 and the previous owner has removed the heater. Could you guys help me and send pictures of relay and wiring installations of your cars? I know I have BA4 parts from atlea...

Re: 411 wings on a 412?

Won't work. VW changed the whole front design when they facelifted the 411 to 412. Every visible body panel is different from inside out and the two models only share the same front body frame.

Re: It's a loose connection to VW I know but thought I'd sha

Ok, so Rapido is a bit like CombiCamp. CombiCamp is more like a tent on the wheels 'though. I know my 412's been used for towing a caravan as there's wiring that's been markekd for it. It was also equipped for two batteries  I'd love to buy a period caravan but i'm still bit worried about how...

Cool find! Could you take a picture where the whole caravan is shown with the lid open? What do youthink about the towing capabilities os the 412? I've been dreaming of a CombiCamp as i think it would be light enough for these cars. But what about a proper caravan? How is it in cross winds for examp...

Re: MY NEW 412LE PROBLEMS

I'm not too familiar with the D-jet yet, as the car i've had for longer has twin carburetors. But i've read a lot about these as my new project has the D-jet. I've understood that vacuum leaks can cause a lot of problems too as they will disturb the D-jets function. Change the injector seals, all va...

I've heard that a Volvo 740 sill is quite good match but haven't been able to compare them myself. I'm ordering a pair of sills from a local panel beater as they are otherwise impossible to get... The type 4 sill is so simple it shouldn't cost a lot to order a hand made pair. I've drawn the profile ...

Re: Rear Brake Drum and Lining Sizes

Atleast 411 has type 3 brake drums in the rear and i think VW didn't change those like they did with the front brakes when they modified the 411 into 412. Part number for the VW 411 drum is 311-501-615F and for the shoe 311-609-537E. Also everything else in the type 4 rear drum is numbered 311-..som...

Beetle and type 4 steerig wheels are intercahngeable and they have the same splines. I have a steering wheel in my '72 411 that came out of a beetle that was made the same year.

Re: Where can I get this part please?

Aren't those just ordinary rubber fuel hoses? You can buy them from any car parts retailer. Take the old one out and show it in the shop. They'll give you a new hose with a correct diameter. This pic shows the 411 configuration. There are some slight differences between 411 and 412 but nothing remar...

Yes, that is a type 4 transmission and you can use its clutch slave sylinder. New cylinders haven't been available for ages and sourcing a repair kit is very difficult too.
But i've heard lot's of good about this place: http://www.pastparts.co.uk/
I'm sure they can rebuild your clutch parts.
