Re: what other engines fit in a square??

The tricky bit will be the engine bay space..........not that I've thought about it ;) ;) was thinking non turbo would fit under the lid, but as i've not seen it done or got specific measurements at this point i can't be 100%... with a turbo motor however cutting or box over the lid are probably go...

Re: what other engines fit in a square??

scooby motor  ... radiator in the spare wheel well, subtle vents in the lower valance below the bumper line piped through to the back, rjes bell housing to use a bus box with scooby clutch. all will fit under the hatch in theory or you can build a box to fit instead of the lid. not that i've p...

Re: no power under load

Check the advance in the distributor is working - the rotor arm should twist in one direction and spring back. If you've a vacuum advance make sure that's working (suck on hose and it should move the distributor base-plate). I think the MoT would have shown up sticky brakes. Make sure choke butterf...

Re: no power under load

Good luck with finding it. These things do seem to have a habit of not enjoying the winter rest period - my lumpy idling seems to be caused by a similar lack of use! cheers for that... honestly she seems to have survived the winter really well considering. hope you get that idle sorted and get back...

Re: no power under load

It's not something stupid like the brakes sticking after it's little sleep? Might be worth feeling the wheels after a short drive to see if they are hotter than they should be. now this thought did cross my mind, but i dismissed it (perhaps too quickly) after doing emergency stops, etc... and findi...

Points, pipes on dizzy, condensor? (I'm guessing at it being to do with ignition as to my mind if everything else is ok then something wrong with the spark for yr bang to push them pistons)but don't quote me as I'm on the learning curve in a big way. cheers for the response... yeah it's looking lik...

Re: help needed with brake lights

its most likely to be either a duff switch,or sludge in the system blocking up the switch To test the switch, pull the 2 wires off & touch them together M/cyl on type 3's is accessed from under the car,& theres a sheet metal cover held on with 2 screws that you need to remove for access.Removing fro...

Re: help needed with brake lights

The first thing I would check is the fuse. If that checks out, bit of a long shot, but have both bulbs failed at the same time...unlikely but... On my Type 4 and Bug the brake light switch is located on the side of the brake master cylinder. I would have thought it would be possible to test the wir...
