Re: Photobucket - images now missing

Use the samba.com instead for VW related images. They stay on there for ever, any amount, are a useful resource for other VW owners and are easy to link to forums.

Re: Insurance

My Bay single cab is insured with Footman James and I have agreed value with them even though it is parked on the street. Generally, I'm disappointed with the so called specialist insurance companies. A couple of years back, somewhat dismayed by the renewal quote from the above, I rang around the us...

Re: Type 3 Pedal assembly

Access the link below: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/type3_parts_book/ Look at section 7 which has the exploded diagram for the pedal assembly and the corresponding part numbers listed. You can see that it is a mix of Type 3 parts (usually starting with 311) and Beetle parts (usually ...

Re: Wipers

Alternatively, what about fitting a 12 volt wiper motor?
I have a 12 volt NOS one but I would need to know your chassis number & handing of vehicle to check the compatibility as there are lots of Type 3 variations when it comes to wiper motors.

Definitely not a Bay part - in addition to what Dave says the Bay tail pipe was right angled and did not have a bracket tab.

Re: Westfalia 321 073 tow hitch 1977 date stamp

This query has been answered on the Late Bay forum.
However, for anybody following it on this forum it fits a '72-'76 Bay.
My January '79 single cab Bay has a 321 125 towbar as pictured below.

Re: RAL Paint code

My understanding of the RAL system is that it is standard definition of about 200 or so shades of colour.
In other words it is not an exhaustive list of every shade known to man or indeed VWs.

I have this available:

Someone with access to a Type 4 parts book could perhaps check out the part number to see if it suits.

Re: Source for chokes?

Right hand unit is the same as all other 12V Aircooled & therefore easy to get from the usual sources Left Hand is more difficult to get Put a continuity check on it & check for open circuit-There's not a lot to go wrong, so if the coil is intact, all should be well Really? The Type 3 chokes have T...

Re: Windscreen Wipers

Dave, we're talking at cross purposes here! I'm talking about wiper arms and I presume wireless and Mike were as well. I agree the motors are in many cases LHD/RHD. As to your query about the motors in the final column, my interpretation of that is the motors in the left hand column are the original...

Re: Windscreen Wipers

I agree with Mike - the parts book that I have a scan of makes no mention of the models you allude to Dave, nor does the parts book scanned onto the samba.com. Furthermore I have a period SWF catalogue with incredibly detailed information on everything to do with wipers (armature part numbers, drive...

Re: Type 3 71 -73 Wiper Blades

The fact that they are a one year only blade as far as the Ghia goes limits their saleability. There are a couple of sets on thesamba for an eyewatering 80 euros and a more reasonable but still expensive $49.
Why not advertise on there undercutting them?
