Re: Brake Problem

We finally have brakes! There was no easy solution and I imagine usage will help. One big help was changing the rear wheel cylinders from the squareback 361611067AATE to fastback 311611067C 22.2mm units; after this, it was simply a matter of mass bleeding! I suspect changing everything in one go con...

Re: Brake Problem

OK progress update; blanking the rears off created a perfect hard pedal; so the front calipers seem fine and all is bled properly up front. Tomorrow the plan is to blank off one rear side at a time to see what we learn but could it be that: The new master cylinder isn't pumping sufficient volume to ...

Re: Brake Problem

The issue is long travel, not a spongy pedal David. It is very odd, when the car is static it seems fine but when moving the pedal travels almost to the floor

Re: Brake Problem

Hi Guys, thank you as always for the quick responses: New CSP drums were fitted Shoes adjusted I'll need to check the pushrod adjustment Yes to new fluid and lots of it pulled through The point you both make on the calipers has me wondering, to date bleeding has only been via the the top nipple, but...

Brake Problem

Following some brake problems, I opted to go for what is pretty much a full rebuild but the problem persists and it's odd! When stationary the car has a good firm pedal, but start moving and the pedal fades badly to the point where it's almost to the floor, the faster you go the worse it gets. The s...

Re: Rear Brake Drums Type 34

Hi Sparywig, thank you - sadly Mario didn't have any available and werk34 appear to have either the Brazilian ones used by Heritage or Empi ones, of which I have received indifferent reports. In the end, I've gone expensive and opted for CSP parts from Germany. They are costly but highly recommended...

Rear Brake Drums Type 34

My old drums on my '67 T34 were out of shape and having been previously machined it was off to source some new ones. No problem on these later ones part number 311-501-615 from Heritage. However, once delivered, it seems they are not the right size, less deep than the originals, the bigger issue is ...

Many thanks Peter, sorted! It is the pipe A28 that runs into the bottom of the metal work that runs into the air filter - Phew one more thing done!

Re: Warm air to carb air intake hose

Hi Dave, many thanks for your thoughts. Unfortunately, neither of the diagrams show the piece I'm referring to. My car is a 1967 Twin carb T34. Page 49 of the Haynes manual image 3.5 show the piece I am referring to. On the right hand heat exchanger there is an outlet that has a flexi card ducting p...

Warm air to carb air intake hose

Re-creating my heating system and would appreciate some guidance. From the right hand heat exchanger I know a card/flexi pipe is supposed to run alongside the cool air metal pipe towards the rear of the car - but where does it go to once it emerges from the tinware? All observations appreciated Grah...

Since the original spec plugs no longer exist and there are a range of options available, time to ask; what if your favourite spark plug? The one's in my service kit are NGK BP6ES, but is there anything better (TC 1600 stock engine) BW Graham

Fresh Air Pipes

Returning my exhaust to stock whilst the engine is out. Tinware has all be prepared and I think I have sourced all the parts, but as I rebuild one thing confuses me. In the side tinware there are two holes coming out at the fan end of the engine. Both look as if a fresh air pipe could emerge through...

Rear swing axle Z bar bracket

Could someone post a picture of the rear axle (T3)? The area I need is the area where the z bar (anti roll bar) item goes through a bracket on the axle. On the OS of my car I need to repair the bracket on the axle through which the downward 'piston' of the z bar travels up and down. I want to check ...
