Re: Engine Dilemma

I have a complete 1500s longblock for sale if that helps. Also a '64 only distributor for a 1500s. It has been disassembled so can easily be checked over and put back together.

Re: Radio??!!

There are also companies out there that can convert the internals of the radio so that it has a dab radio and iPod connection without altering the look from the outside. I think Andy from spikes vintage restorations had it done to the one in his red notch. This place has a nice early type 3 radio al...

Can't seem to copy it onto here. If you're on fb it's quite a new post on 'type3 swap meet' page. It's up for €120.

Re: Radio??!!

I got mine from Richard Oakley. May be worth sending him a message...

There is an early blaupunkt one for sale on the type 3 swapmeet page on face book at the moment.

The cardboard style holders I think are available from Mario at the t3hq as a reproduction of the original.

Re: Front brake shoes

Where would you get them relined, or is it a case of finding a set of vw ones?

Annoyingly there were two sets at volksworld in the swapmeet but I thought they were the wrong part number until I got home and checked.

Re: Front brake shoes

The fronts I have are 50mm and could do with being re-lined.

The rears are listed on isp's site as being the same as beetle fronts 230x40mm. On most of the UK suppliers it doesn't seem to list them as being the same.

Front brake shoes

Does anyone know if beetle front shoes fit early (pre 64) type 3 brakes?

They both seem to be 230x40mm but didn't know if there were any other differences?

I run flat 4 5.5’s on the rear and 4.5’s on the front, although they are on re-drilled drums and discs so no adaptors.......

Re: Intermittent problem.

I did swap the fuel pump for a nos one I picked up. The carbs are the only thing I haven't physically changed, just cleaned jets. I've sent a pair of carbs to Bert to be rebuilt and have decided not to touch anything else at the moment until I've fitted the carbs and tried it. If I fiddle with too m...

Re: Intermittent problem.

Where and how does the cut off valve fit?? When I changed the dizzy from the 009 to the vac dizzy I checked the vaccum worked and fitted a new vaccum hose. The issue was there with both distributors which made me think it was more likely a carb problem everything else (ignition related) has been cha...

Re: Intermittent problem.

Only thing I've done is stripped them and cleaned the jets. It runs a little rough for the first minute or two when engine is cold but when warm it's fine (when it works). I see Bert has a pair on the samba for sale. Mine a 32-34 pdsit-2 and 3. The only thing which seem different is mine don't seem ...

Intermittent problem.

Can anyone help? I'm having problems with the engine in my squareback. Unfortunately it is very intermittent. It feels like a misfire/stuttering when I try and accelerate. It will start and idle fine. I can rev it and it sounds fine. However when driving under any sort of load it stutters. I drove t...
