I had exactly this issue - it turned out to be a filthy fuel tank. If the car has been stored for ages and then driven and run low on fuel it can dislodge all of the treacle at the bottom of the tank. Check the fuel filter to see if it is dirty - if it is then replace it. If it gets dirty again very...

If any of you are struggling with cacky fuel tanks a great guy called James Wooton sorted out my Variant which had been in storage for years. It found it on the forum - lovely chap called Chris sold it. It was his father in laws. He had it with Brian and Jane at Volksfarmers who sorted it all out and then a brilliant guy called James Wootons sorted out the cacky fuel tank.
