Re: Mint condition RHD early fasty- possibly for sale

nice to see it's still in mint condition, one of my favourite cars I ever owned!

by the way the fuel tank wasn't powder coated, not by me anyway! I red oxized and then 2pk gloss black it along with everything else underneath!

would love to do another car to this standard again one day..

Re: how much drop is one rear spline?

this is 1 spline... if you want it somewhere in the middle you have to mess about with inner splines too and that's when it gets complicated! adjustable spring plates is probably a better choice to fine adjust. same suspension as Beetle 1302/3 IRS for reference... https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...

scousey12 wrote:Hi..thanks for that..however when you remove the TC how do you know when its in place when you replace it ? Regards
it simply in place when all 3 bolts are bolted to the flexi plate on the engine.

I've edited my 1st post as I meant to say leave it on box not flex plate! sorry for the confusion!

Re: Type 3 auto box

you leave the TQ on the box and support it with a small bracket as in the pic below, this prevents it falling out and damaging the pump drive etc..

Re: Antone got copy Gas Burners on their type 3?

the best fitment for the Type 3 is 914 alloys like I had on it, they fit perfectly and that's why they are so popular!

Re: 68 fastback - Marko's old car - bits n bobs!

glad it still looks amazing! everyone I speak to always comments on how crazy I was to sell it! well there's nothing I can do about that now! by the way I still have the sub box I built for this in the loft, if ever you fell the need for a sub you can have it! (collection only though). here's a link...

Re: Windscreen washer on 68 fastback - how does it work.

when I had it it had an electric pump fitted and the original switch/plunger modified to activate a micro switch. if this is still fitted then check for power at the pump (in wheel well)

I don't know anything about the electronic ignition fitted so can't really comment! there's no magical secret to bypassing the switch, just chase the wiring back!

it would help if you had a multi meter handy..

Re: hard to start

have you tried to "hot wire" directly from the engine bay? that would by-pass the ignition switch.. when I had it it had traditional points but I always wanted to fit electronic ignition for piece of mind and also an electric fuel pump as it would suffer from vapour lock now and again when hot..

can't fault Harrington for service and quality, price really isn't that bad when compared to re-chroming! only niggle I have found is you can see polishing marks in certain light, no idea how to completely remove them!

car looking great by the way!

Search for notch1500 as a seller on ebay, it's a chap called Simon apparently who supplies the seals to ISP west, he's the guy who supplied them to Marko. I've got ISP West glass, bonnet, boot and door seals all round and they seem pretty good so far. They take the scrapers too. that is correct, fo...

Anyone tried the Type 3 Window rubbers Custom and Commercial are currently selling? I emailed him through eBay and we met up at a show, £50 for 2 screen seals and the quality is ...
