Sounds like the joints may be slipping on the splines, check the pinch bolts or even remove the coupler and see if the splines are worn

Pull the gear selector covers off in the car and you should see the inhibitor switch, see if it's making a contact with the slider on the gear stick, if it's not adjust it to do so, or you can just connet the wires and see if the starter spins

Look at the chassis number. It will probably start 46420xxxxx . If the xxxxx is up to 23,434 you have a 1973-built car, and qualify for historic vehicle class = NO ROAD TAX (VED). its ............... 4642007*** which is before 4642023,434 does that means its tax exempt ( in the future :) ) april ne...
