Re: Carb rebuild kits

I thought when I was looking last week these guys had the kits.

Carbs, rebuild or replace

Hi Guys, Today we tried to fire up the engine that I was given with the car. There was some success but it wouldnt fire fully. The carbs are definately suspect. I take it getting hold of new Solex 32 pdsit carbs is not easy. Would a rebuild be worthwhile or can I put other carbs onto the same manifo...

Re: Hello serious newbie

Cheers, the first job is to get it running and then go from there. To that end a mate and his dad are round later to see if we can get her fired up.
I will get round to starting a build thread as well.

Re: Hello serious newbie

Cheers for that, found it straight away in daylight. The knob part is missing. Just something else to add to the shopping list.
Interior is in a poor state, but I expected that. Body work and everything else seems nice and solid.
Will start a build thread now I guess....

Re: Hello serious newbie

Well she's here! First question, how do I get into the filler cap? Not that she will need fuel for a while yet. She is tucked up in the garage now. Pics are crappy due to iPhone. Will try and get more tomorrow. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/board_paul/Squarebac/F6E72AA1-B888-4D81-AFFE-A3E85...

Re: Hello serious newbie

No, the engine was never meant to be fitted and was meant to be an unknown entity.
It arrived minus the engine, but they have sourced me another one so it's all good.

Should be here in about an hour :p

Re: Hello serious newbie

Wow this has been a real long time coming! But it's finally in the Uk, and gets delivered to me Monday. I'm just hoping the engine is in the back of one of the vans as it wasn't with the car :(. Will cross that bridge when it comes to it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/board_paul/Mobile%20Up...

Re: Noob

Thanks everyone :) She passed the MOT yesterday just needing a ball joint boot. Also replaced the silly 'phat boy' exhaust with a smaller quiet pack that also came with the car because I'm not a boy racer :D She is also getting a little engine work done hopefully as it's ticking over a bit high but...

Can you not get someone to photoshop your car in different colours? Gives you the best idea I think.

Re: Type 1 Engine in Type 3 Car?

Well, I need to find away of fitting this into the square when it arrives. It was going in the girlfriends beetle, however we have one split up. It's a cb performance Ali case so I believe, it may, be universal. Depending how funds are by the time the car arrives I may look into turbo charging it as...

Re: Type 1 Engine in Type 3 Car?

Si, there is a lot of money in the engine. That's the problem. I will think about it for a while. Got some other things going on that will determine what happens.
Thanks guys

Re: Type 1 Engine in Type 3 Car?

Hi Thanks for the reply.
The car isn't with me yet, it's still in Oz. the only photos I have are the ones I have from the advert.
The case is an aftermarket case. From CB performance I don't know if its universal or not. I've also not got the engine at home so I'm not much help am I really.lol

Type 1 Engine in Type 3 Car?

Ok, I know from research that the blocks are different. I also think the dipstick is in the wrong place? However if I swapped the tinware over would a type1 engine be ok in the square? Reason I ask, is I've just spent a fortune building a 2007cc type 1 engine. This was going in the girlfriends beetl...
