FI breather connections?

I'm refitting the rocker box breather pipes to my '73 and not sure where the pipes are supposed to go to? I assumed it was the metal breather box but it only has a single connection going to crankcase at the right of the throttle body, anyone got a diagram of this later system setup?

Re: Expected hp

Not sure I'd keep 'em, I'd stick with stock 1584 barrels or machine the case for 1776. The 1679 barrels are pretty thin walled and prone to going oval if they're the slip-in ones. As far as I know all 1584cc Type 3's are 54BHP, sometimes you see it rated as 65SAE. On beetles I found using a 4-1 head...

Re: orange fastback

Choosing a colour is difficult, it's so subjective, I like the early subtle VW colours like chinchilla grey or savannah beige :-)

Re: carbs seeping fuel from main gasket?

I thought the recommended psi was 3.5 anyway? Any carb should handle that.

Re: Dynamo Charging issues with T1 Dynamo

What happens if you meter across the battery terminals and rev the engine to 1500rpm, are you getting 13.8 or more volts?

Fast idle speed on FI cars?

What speed should D-Jet car fast idle? Mine seems to be a bit slow, about 500rpm from a cold start which gradually rises to normal 850rpm when warmed up. When I pull the pipe from the air box I can hear it sucking louldly so it's getting air through the auxillary air pipe.

Re: carbs seeping fuel from main gasket?

Old carbs can be difficult to seal, maybe it's just leaking from the fuel sloshing about. I scrape a thin layer of gasket sealant on the paper gasket to make it tacky. Personally I'd start saving for some Weber ICT's, like Porsche I'm not a fan of Solex's I've always found them to be thirsty.

Re: Changing disc brakes?

Yes, I will fit new bearings and pads. Sounds straight forward, did you have use heat on the caliper bolts then renew them?

Changing disc brakes?

Anyone changed the discs on their car? Just looking for a heads up before tacking mine as the rust on mine doesn't appear to be shifting. I'm guessing the crux is removing the two caliper bolts. Also, I'm not sure which discs I'll need as mine is a late '72?

Re: orange fastback

Could be Lotus White...? If you're going to lower your fasty then you'll need 145's on the front, mine rubbed with 165's on lock. New tyres noticebly improved the steering on mine, but that could be down to the old fashioned tread pattern on my 165 Firestones! You have the choice of 145/80 or 145/65...

Looks really neat, are you going to heat wrap the J tubes? Might help keep heat rising upwards.

Cheers for that, I think it only needs a tweak to allow for the door rubbers.

Adjusting door latch

Hi,

I've just bought a Fastback, it's a '72 in Kasan red, and the passenger door is difficult to close, you have to slam it. Is it possible to adust the latch slightly by loosening the 4 big Phillip head screws? I thought I'd ask before attacking it!
