Tidy engine bay.... 944's don't need much running in in my experience, nice work on the electroplating too

Re: 1971 VW Type 3 Fastback
Oh dear, you seem to be having some mechanical challenges, what did you do to the 944, they're usually quite robust ?

I'm going to try & spend some more time on here. It look as though you are on the wrong side of the catch fence there - mind you, if she's still knocking away that's maybe the best place

Re: TMB 204J 411 Variant new owner
That doesn't seem so bad I will need to check, but I am reasonably sure I have an ECU and intact wiring harness from a 1971 D-Jet 411 on the shelf. If you could get a distributor from someone else all you need are the wiring diagrams. We have one at http://www.vwtype3and4club.org.uk/wire411US72-.php...

Re: TMB 204J 411 Variant new owner
Welcome, though a little belatedly, I assume you are an 80-90 refugee ? 411 has a D-Jet ignition system, very different to the Digijet, both electrically and physically - are you happy messing with wiring ? Photos are always welcome & can help us assess what might be the best way forward I have some ...

That's really good to know, I assume it was from an early 944, so 924 might also be an option ?

I see the soundproofing is already removed and that floor and front end looks remarkably good. Along with the wing in the luggage compartment did you perhaps find this weeks winning lottery ticket

That sounds like an exceedingly large chunk of extra air and power, but without knowing the standard it's difficult to judge against others, especially when i'm calibrated for 10" water

Re: Ant b's 412 variant.
Doesn't look to be that much of a project for a man with your skills and experience :) I can't remember for sure, but I think the o/s rear wing is still on the 411 shell. However, I suspect the sunroof will be difficult to find. I'm not sure I have ever seen one. I see it's a RHD car, is it an origi...

Re: Foam inside wheel arches
I did a small sill repair to my 412LS. I was very careful to pull the trim and carpet away from the inside. The foam tends to smoulder rather than burst into flames, but I was very very cautious with the MIG and water on hand. Good to see you still drop in from time to time Chino, though you have bee...

175/60/15 looks a bit overtyred then, how about a nice 145/60/15, reducing the frontal area and aero drag

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
I guessed correctly then, 23" is equivalent to a 580 over on this side of the pond As for M & H I have never heard of them, but a quick google for "M & H tires" took me to a UK site which retails them. In the process answering the question about the fronts you are planning to run. As their target ma...

Re: Casa de Fye's autos...
I'm a little intrigued by the tyre sizes. At first I thought slick on the rear, and treaded on the front, which wouldn't make sense to me, and then realised that 23 would not be a suitable diameter for a slick so came to the conclusion that there was a 5 missing from the rear tyre, so it would be a ...

Good news
I would be looking at the oil pump clearances rather than the filter, and the cooler shouldn't make any negative difference (cooler oil = better pressure)
Do you know what spec oil is in there ?
