Good to see you still drop in from time to time Chino, though you have been away so long I have managed to catch up on your post count
It’s what brought me back, I’d heard the rumours ;)
You never know, might find myself with another type 3 at some point.

Re: Foam inside wheel arches

Another vote for Dinitrol, waxoyl is old hat these days, rust prevention has moved on somewhat in the last 50years ;) I've been using a lot of dinitrol recently on another project, ML(if going into existing metal with possible rust present) or 3125HS (if going into fresh metal)for cavities, aerosol ...

If you're struggling with the door repair, my friend runs Garage 87 in Stockport...bit of a drive for you, but he works primarily on aircooled stuff mechanical and welding, might be worth a chat with him if you arent having a any joy.

This looks a bit pricey tbh, I'd see if you can approach Simon Kelly as I believe he reproduces them ,or possibly see if Dan at 1033 Type 3 might have some? Failing that, there is this?

Re: Front body mounting bushes.

Whats the correct Dinitrol product for cavity protection. The list of Dinitrol products, as well as other products is endless. In my day Waxoyl was the norm, so whats the new norm. Dinitrol cavity protection for old metal, is ML. You can use 3125 but that's more for fresh metal I think...I tend to ...

Sorry chaps... I'm still up to my eyeballs sorting out the house that I sold her originally to help fund, otherwise I'd be in there like a rat up a drainpipe! Also I may have foolishly agreed on another project for 2019 (that I'm yet to tell the wife about), sadly watercooled but a bit more practica...

Yes, makes sense. Well 2 fuel breathers is better than one. Bit like exhaust tailpipes, maybe It will go a bit faster. Roads were salted here today, so I think she's had her last run this year. Now tucked up in the garage. Will come back out in March I think. I'll start her and move her around in t...

I have a funny feeling the car has a mix of early and late breather setup from when it had an early fuel tank Jake, which could explain the irregularities.

Don't want all that top quality fuel hose being binned
Hah I seem to spend my life fitting that stuff to every old vehicle that comes my way, I think that's the same brand hose Brickwerks supplied me with on my T25.

Re: Fuel Breather Pipe issue

Glad to see you're continuing to improve the old girl Jake! I'm guessing that was the steel braided stuff underneath that had the drip? It was put on when all the tank got changed over to reinstate a late tank by Chris Gilley(originally the car came to me with an early style tank and the fuel filler...

I may be able to shed some light here... Re: Leaking after washing??

There is only 1 way, Remove the pipe work, it just pulls off, pull away from the drain, then in each corner at the top is a 10mm set screw. Remove those and slowly lower the box, you will see two cables connected to connected to the top which control the flaps. Photograph that and then disconnect. ...

Re: Taking Suspension back to factory

Depends how much you're raising it, if it's just a bit you may be ok, from recollection I put Bugpack reds on the front and KYB gas-a-just on rear so decent shocks that haven't done a load of mileage if they still fit.

Re: Taking Suspension back to factory

Jake, you'll need to replace the shocks front and rear, as I fitted brand new shortened items to suit the ride height. I don't think they'll be long enough to support standard ride height. Believe it or not, I actually raised the car, as it was even lower when I got it, which is probably a contribut...

Re: We all having a knap?

You need one with roof height to get the T25 in as well ! Everything below the roof rusts :) Yeah, I'm hoping I've headed it off at the pass with this one, it's pretty solid and I feel I should have shares in Dinitrol with the amount I've blasted into any cavity I can get the probe into (oo-er)! :)...

It sounds like it may well need a good service and tune up. What part of the country are you in? I imagine taking it to a decent aircooled mechanic or possibly someone local to you willing to help will be a good first step. I've found most aircooled guys I've dealt with happy to give you a quick wal...

Re: Looking for my Old Type 3 Fastback 1600E Iberian Red

Unfortunately the new GDPR regs seem to have killed off a lot of use for the V888 form, I recently tried to use one for more previous owner info about my Van, much like I did with the Fastback, only to be told they no longer issue such information (due to the regs) :(
