Any direction from you guys would be welcome! Also the aerial is on top of the wing, what's the best choice of aerial, Hirschmann red tippe...

Re: Notchback Rear Vent Trim

Thanks Mike ..... could only find the rear ones .... seems that's enough hassle for one week .... especially after just tackling the pop outs and door overhaul ..... sometimes its best to pay someone!!

Re: Notchback Rear Vent Trim

Yup that's the conclusion I'm coming too ... but they seem to look rather weird as they don't follow the curvature of the body and kind of stick right up high on the outer vents!!!

Ummmm ....

Re: Dash Bulb wiring

Thanks for that ... the rev counter seems to have been an option for cars sold out here. Anyway, I'll get back to fiddling again armed with your advice.

Dash Bulb wiring

Hi everyone... Changing the dash bulbs on my 72 Notchback. Could anyone share a picture of the wiring behind the Rev counter as I can only make one of the two bulbs work. Looked at the wiring diagrams in Bentley but a picture would be best for an amateur like me.

Thanks in advance.

You are right... The only way to get it off was with extreme heat. Done in the end but a real labour. You can see some of the cars features in the above link.

Thanks again everyone....

Re: Type 3 Exhaust Installation ...again!

All I can say is that you were all right! No matter how much I sprayed rust release , wd40 etc on the two hexagon nuts they would budge. Six hours faffing around. Now totally pissed off. Even my brand new 46mm wrench wouldn't budge it. Now I know why the previous owner left this job untouched. Guess...

Re: Type 3 Exhaust Installation ...again!

Thanks guys.... Great advice. Found all the bits including the crush rings in a fitting kit from ISP West. They are nearest for me. Meanwhile I found all the front upper and lower torsion bar bump stops were missing! Got a nice set and am ready to do that job as well. That's another story ...... Loo...

Type 3 Exhaust Installation ...again!

Dear T3 Friends, I have recently acquired a NOS Lange silencer and tailpipe from the USA for my 1972 FI Notchback. It looks fantastic but before I install I would like to clarify some points (forgive me if I sound stupid but its my first attempt) …. Q1. Do I need to remove the factory painted grey p...

Re: Front Inner Wing to Floor Pan

Thanks for all the help guys. Editors advice was very helpful... Thank you so much. There's no such source of advice locally as there's only two type 3 here. Mechanics only want to fix new cars. I'll put my pics of the car underside here after I next crawl underneath. From what I saw when at the mot...

Front Inner Wing to Floor Pan

Dear friends, My 1973 Notchback just failed its MOT here in HK as the Examiner stated there was gap between the inner wing and floor pan - in other words the joint at the bottom back of the front inner wing and where it meets the floor of the passenger footwell. There is no rust att all on the whole...

Re: Rear seat belts on 1973 Model Notchback

Thanks Dave,

Seems there's only the holes to secure the Windows and a cable for the HRW, seems there is some kind of plate above where the window fixes.

I'll have another fiddle as it does seem to evidence that thus was pre quipped with bolt points for three point belts.

Rear seat belts on 1973 Model Notchback

I know this might be going over old stuff again but could someone let me know if there is a built in bolt fixing in the rear quarter roof panel, as with the late fastback, for rear three point belts. I'd like some advice before I start to mess up my nice headlining. Found all the other fixing points...
