Carb Problem?
Hi I've taken my Solex 32 PDSIT carbs off due to an engine rebuild but found that a piece is missing from one carb. It appears that a cap is missing - is this an issue? What impact will it have on the carb performance? https://farm1.staticflickr.com/964/41066931414_4dbfa3e77a_k.jpg Untitled by Jon D...

Re: Generator rebuild
Had to replace the brushes again after approx. 1000 miles. Is it likely to be poor quality parts or could it be something else?

Re: Generator rebuild
Have you checked the basics? Are the brushes ok, they need to be sticking out higher than the holder. If they're flush or lower they're worn out. Are the brush springs good? Or have they broken/relaxed? Is the com clean? Is the dynamo receiving the field signal to trigger it? Your first thought was...

Generator rebuild
My 12v generator gave up this week
I've done some diagnosis and 0V when checking for max voltage, also tried repolarising but gen didn't spin. Therefore it needs a rebuild?
I need advice on who can rebuild, sells reconditioned generators or upgrade to an alternator.
Thanks, Jon

Re: Correct dipstick?
The ball doesn't really affect the reading, it just ensures the dipstick is centralised in the tube. As long as You have the spring loaded section, that's the important bit- the dipstick bottoms out in a dimple in the filler tube, at which point the spring allows the stick to shorten & the cap to c...

Correct dipstick?
Hi, I'm not sure I've got the correct dipstick for my Squareback. It is connected to the oil filler cap but has a ball on it which can slide up and down the stick. Should this be in a fixed position and if so where? I just want to make sure I don't overfill the oil and cause other issues. Cheers, Jon

68 RHD Squareback
Hi, I'm new to the forum and type 3 ownership so wanted to share my new ride. A 68 RHD square recently imported from SA, needs MOT and DVLA registration so currently sat in the workshop waiting for some attention on floorpan. A good stock interior with almost all electrics in working order, never ha...
