Re: Can you give me an idea of the value for my insurance
I'd like to compliment you on still having those genuine VW optional wheel trims. There was a Beetle local to me about 30 years ago with those and I've not seen a car with them since! I have my 412 2 door saloon insured with FJ for £5K, but this is looking a bit low compared with other figures quote...

Another Part No. What is it?
Can anyone help identify the following Part No. : 411 837 401C
It looks like the door mechanism but a proper description would be welcome!
Thanks,
Stephen

Re: So, how many are left?
So it looks like there are 7 412 saloons on the road. As the 2 door is supposed to the rare one (relatively speaking) and I have one of them, how many more are there? Could I be alone? I could spend days looking at this website. The shocking stats are if you put something in like a Ford Sierra and w...

Re: Brake probs on 412
It sounds like I had boiled the brake fluid as the brakes did return once cooled down. The clipers were recently rebuilt but I think they might be past it!

Brake probs on 412
Took my 412 on an 80 mile trip yesterday (the furthest it's been in years). About half way I think one of the front brakes started binding. Anyway I carried on and about 10 miles later I went to apply the brakes and my foot went to the floor - slightly scary! There was a little bit of stopping power...

Re: My old 412 2 door saloon
Can't help you I'm afraid, but I am the owner of VIW 412 previously mentioned in this thread. This is the same car as ANO...L. The colour is Turkis Blau. So does anyone know how many 2 door 412 saloons are currently known to exist, or be on the road?

Re: Pictures of my 412...finally
I've tried the "keeping good care of it as it's the children's first car" line, but It's been pointed out that I probably wouldn't let them drive it anyway. Yes, I did buy it from Neal. It's got the biggest history folder I've ever seen, even going back to the original bill of sale. I must really ge...

Type 4 front bumpers
Are all type 4 bumpers the same? i.e Would a 412 bumper fit an early (single headlights) 411?
Thanks

Re: Pictures of my 412...finally
It's been my intention to get to shows for the last three years, but it just hasn't happended. (2 young children=no time!) Hence, only having covered a couple of hundred miles. I'm grappling as to whether I should sell. I know I'll never find another like this (which is the reason I bought it), but ...

I've finally set up a Flickr account. These pics were taken a couple of years ago after a full respray. Car has only covered about 200 miles since! Hope these pics are a bit more visible than my first attempt. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5096/5441052879_15842989fe_z.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr...

Re: More Type 4 parts identification with pics
Pic 1 The brake master cylinder : I have a part number on the box. It's a Repco replacement part P8762. Does this mean anything to anyone? Tried to search on Repco parts but couldn't come up with anything. Have also looked at brake master cylinders on VW Heritage site and can't see that it's obvious...

Battery access on 412 2 door saloon
I think I'm being really stupid here, but I can't seem to tip forward the passenger seat to access the battery on my 412 2 door saloon. Is there a knack to this, I think on a 412 it tips forwards but how ? I did get the seat fixed last year, as it wouldn't secure down, so I'm hoping this isn't the p...

More gauge problems - Dash lights
Seeing the last topic reminded me that none of the dash lights work on my 412. It seems a bit of a coincidence for all the bulbs to have gone (although this might have happened over time). Everything else electrical seems to work (apart from the rear demister). Does anyone know what fuse the dash li...

Dash Lights for 412
Can anyone tell me what fuse the interior dash lights come under for a '72 412 ? Couldn't find anything referring to these in any of my manuals.
I guess it could always be that every bulb has gone!
Thanks
Stephen

Air filter for Type 4 1679cc engine ?
I realise this is a question that's been asked before, but does anyone know of where I can get hold of a new air filter for my 1700cc 412 ?
I've done a bit of searching but to no avail and I've had no luck looking on the Porsche 914 sites either.
Thanks
Stephen
