I know you'll forgive me for this, but why does it look like you've got sealant between pump & cover?

Re: Gasket Set

Try offering it up to an oil filler pipe!- size of the hole doesn't line up
It's not rocket science to make as & when needed & most people would have some gasket paper knocking around

Re: Looking for a Type 3 with Tan interior

Clearly no-one
How about Type 4's? & a quailfying question- Do type 4 doorcards have a small screw halfway down on each side covered up with a plastic cap? (which is what I'm trying to give away!)

Re: Gasket Set

For the Oil Pump, You'll have 2 different sizes of stud holes for both the base & cover- it's fairly self explanatory- whatever size fits your studs Oil cooler- Measure your oil ports on both Cooler & Crankcase One part you won't find in a set is the oil filler gasket- You have to make your own For ...

Re: 412 Variant estate build.

I have absolutely no idea how we'd edit the partswap page, But, given that Type 4 Driveshafts are the same as late Type 3, & Type 3 Boots are the same as IRS Type 1, I'd say we're fairly safe to suggest that you use type 1 boots! As Dave Summers has said, as long as the splines in the bolt head are ...

Danny has a 205T at a surprisingly reasonable price, but You'd need to explain to him how to suck on the vacuum unit as he's not mechanically minded! My personal oinion would be to always go with points- electronic is a pain to set up from scratch, there's no indication of failure or means of testin...

On a later model certainly, it's the same.

Although not actually a help to you, I just came across this & thought you might like to see it, as it proves that the conversion to swing & irs isn't unheard of https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=500599 My further thoughts are that the standard irs box isn't drilled to accept the rea...

I think its Either/or , not a combination of both!
possibly also depending on what gearbox you have & whether your engine has the support bar

Fuel pipe

What do other type 3's have after the fuel pipe exits the back end of the floorpan? I've always had just a jolly long lenth of fuel hose running all the way to the engine bay
Do other people have a length of solid pipe over the gearbox? as Beetles do?

Check that the plastic cap on the breather is a tight fit? It's thermoplastic, so heating it in water will allow you to bend the lugs out if it's gone loose ( should be fairly tight)

Re: Where to begin

I would say go through the fuel system first- inspect everything, clean out the tank, replace filters & fuel hoses Whilst the tank is out, check the hard brake lines in/around the master cylinder, then next job overall is to go through the braking system, again, inspecting & replacing, especially th...

Dimension needed please- rear wing mount

Could someone with a late model car, or even just a rear wing, give me the dimension from straight edge of wing on B post, to the mounting hole/bolt on the bottom edge?
My wings are in the darkest recess of the garage at the mo & I'm doing the sills at the mo!
