Re: Members only room

It's because You commented on Chino's resto thread... The whole thread has been moved there temporarily, so that the guy he sold it to, can't access the thread & benefit even further.

Re: Rolling Road

Theres a place in Bristol I think- Maybe Avonmouth.
My suggestion would be to refit the stock ignition system & go from there
I'd also encourage You to make the L shaped plate to assist in timing the bugger

Re: 1971 Fastback Iberia Red

I think it's just plain greed to be honest Chino underpriced it to achieve a quick sale & liberate funds for house purchase. Squares tend to be valued higher than fastbacks unfortunately, But I can assure You that a fasty is absolutely beautiful to drive. Ultimately I guess price depends on conditio...

Re: 1971 Fastback Iberia Red

It was fairly seriously underpriced by Chino, but I think the fair value would be around £7K to £7.5K
If You are serious about buying it, make sure He puts a new MOT on it
Then I guess the question is How do You feel about giving someone such a huge profit for no work?

Re: 1971 VW Type 3 Fastback

Bear in mind that the extra layer of metal when You do the web panel, will make the outer sill sit further out!
I used an air joggler/crimper to get it all nice & tight before spot welding

I think there's supposed to be a teeny kink at each end on the bottom edge to act as a drain for the outer sill

Re: The Volkswagen Type 3 (book) by Simon Glen

Sorry about the delay Broady The absolute truth is Yes, She did, but on reflection I've decided to keep both copies.. & hopefully avoid it ending up in the same state as my copy of Mayer-steins book Which lives in Fasty, gets pulled out at shows & is now pretty knackered The Simon glen book really d...

I work on the theory that vw wouldn't have put it in if it wasn't needed- it adds a bit of extra rigidity

It's a bit "off" really isn't it?! I think Will probably asked Dave to move the resto thread so that the New seller couldn't benefit from the added aid to His sale.

I've got a sneaky feeling someone has Bought a copy for Me.. When I slipped it into conversation that I had lots of goodies arriving from Will, "I got the I hate you" comment, but that might just be a ruse
If I end up with 2 copies, I'll let Broady have first option

Re: Coil resistances?

I'd agree with Mike but would add the question that if You think it's accentuated in damp conditions, is the car garaged?.. You might consider a can of Holts Damp Start, which forms a sealing/insulating layer over the entire ignition system
