Re: After some parts for my 65 notch

I got a NOS Rear Valance Panel for a Notch from Volksfarmers maybe 8 years ago. Only needed the lower fluted part, so still have the upper half. Probably what you don’t need ?

Re: Type 3 Distributor

Ta. Fitted it soon after it was delivered. Did not get to test drive until Saturday. What a difference. It was the Vacuum Hose to the Left Hand Carburettor Butterfly that I had disconnected a couple of years ago, when I realised it was just sucking air out of the Distributor. With that re connected ...

Re: Type 3 Distributor

Have taken the plunge and bought a NOS 883 Dual Vacuum Unit. Looks Genuine enough, and there would be no money to be made by anyone making fake ones.

I’ll let you know how it goes !

Re: Type 3 Distributor

Not found it yet and have to leave for work now.

Have you tried sucking / blowing the vacuum pipe connections ? That’s how I found out one of mine had failed. No resistance. Could just suck / blow air through one connection.

Re: Type 3 Distributor

Sorry. Only just read that. Working Nights, so just got up for work. No 3 digit number on the Arm ? They say that’s the only way to identify them. Except for new ones in their box.

Re: Type 3 Distributor

Peter, If I’m right then it should be 883 i.e. the last 3 digits of the Long Bosch Part Number for the Dual Vacuum Unit.

My Distributor is VW Part Number :- 311 905 205 AA

Bosch :- 0 231 167 016

Ta.

Re: Panel below Fresh Air Box

Pete, Photo & measurements would be great, although I expect it will be a case of getting Irvs VW Restorations to repair it however they think is best. Probably by repairing in situ what is there. There’s a Rat Look green Late Type 3 Variant for sale on here. That seems to have the bulkhead bulge un...

Re: Panel below Fresh Air Box

Not sure when they changed. I once had a RHD Fastback bought new in Malta by a British Army service man, then driven back to the UK. It got a J Reg here, so 1971 ish ? It had the earlier bulkhead without the big bulge.

Re: Panel below Fresh Air Box

No. The steel Panel that goes full width of the Front bulkhead, from inner wing to inner wing, underneath the Fresh Air Box. The Black plastic airbox indside the Car must be fastened to it somehow ? It could all be fabricated but NOS panels are always good. Looked at the thread. At least I know what...

Re: Type 3 Distributor

Thank you for looking. I should have said that it is one of the Diaphragms that has failed on my Dual Vacuum Unit. Seems they all do. Have sent PM to Matthew in Southhampton. Found an Ad he put on for Roy Watts in 2006 (!) including a NOS Dual Vac Unit still in the box for £15 Hoping he still knows ...

Due to lack of Air Cooled VWs around here, I may be wrong about that but I don’t see any, we joined Lakeland Historic Car Club a few years ago. Great excitement as there had never been any Air Cooled VWs in the Club. There are still only our 1966 Beetle and 1972 Variant in the Club. If anyone is int...

Panel below Fresh Air Box

Don’t suppose anyone has the Panel Under the Fresh Air Box for a Late Type 3 ? Don’t even know what it looks like. It’s up behind the Dash. Can’t be seen from under the Bonnet as the Fresh Air Box Covers it. Part Number might help me. Is there any recognised repair method for the Fresh Airbox bulge ...

Re: Tatton park 5 August

Gave up on VW Northwest 8 or 9 years ago. Went then looking for parts when planning the Body Off rebuild of the Type 3. Found nothing. Hardly any Aircooled stuff at all. Used to go religiously every year, if I could get the day off work. Took Variant to Leighton Hall Classic Car Show last Sunday, 1s...

Please can anyone tell me if the Headlamp Reflector “ bridge piece thingys “ are supposed to be removed when you fit Halogen Bulbs in place of the original round bulbous Tungsten Bulbs ? New Hella Reflectors come with the “ bridge piece thingys “ in place. I have some old Headlamps with Halogen Bulb...

Re: Indicator Lamp Position(s)

Pete, Might work but I don’t know. The Beetle is a 1966. Don’t know if the later inficators were in the same position as the 1957 - 1963. On photos they look further forward and closer in to the 1/4 Panels to me. Looked at new Wings On Line to see if that might tell me but they come without Indicato...
