Re: 4 stud to 5/130 brake drums on a 1968 Squareback
Hi Bri,
Thanks for that, but I don't think the adapters would fit as I only have about a 5mm gap in between the tyre and wing lip now.
I am just waiting for Karmann Konnection to come back to me with a price to re-drill.
Cheers

4 stud to 5/130 brake drums on a 1968 Squareback
Hi,
I am looking to change my 4/130 wheels to Fuch 5/130, I have sourced the front discs, but I am struggling to sort out the back. Can the existing drums be re-drilled safely or can I get blanks and get my mate to machine them, or does someone do them off the shelf.
Cheers Jim

Oil cooler torque setting.
Hi, I have a later oil cooler(stamped part number) and a re-built dual relief case. I am using the standard brown type 1 seals. Oil pouring out from seals on start up. I wondered if I was over tightening the 3 nuts, 2 x 10mm and 1 x 13mm. Is there a proper torque setting, as i have seen some people ...

Cooling tin
Hi I am having a 1600 long block built at the moment and I think I have some cooling tin missing. I have J tubes, so I don't have (21) or (22), do I need them or are they just to protect the push rod tubes. I have seen some with them on with an extra side plate bolted on to keep the heat of the J tu...

Off side mirror ?
Hi,
I'm after an off side mirror for my 68 Squareback, but I don't want to pay £55 for a flat four one, any ideas. Does a 68 Beetle or Ghia one fit or look the same?
Cheers

Lowered front end - what height to get on rollers for mot
I have just lowered my 68 Squareback and the front valence is now 110mm off the floor in the middle. Just wondered when I come to mot it, will it hit anything when I drive it onto the rollers to test the brakes during an mot test. Also will the headlights need to be adjusted.
Cheers

Gearbox grinding when changing from 3rd to 2nd
The car came with a Scat gear shifter, I have taken it off - the coupling the ball of the shifter sits in can move up and down about 6mm when I pull it up and down with some pliers? Should there be any movement or has a bush worn or gone. Should I get a stock shifter. When I took the shifter off the...

Re: Oil in fan housing?
I have just found an old fan which is different to the one I was running. The one I had on was off a 2 litre engine it looks like it had been welded for strength, I will try again with the standard fan. I will check the breather also.

Oil in fan housing?
I have just installed a recon long block in my 68 Square, all standard 1600cc, twin carbs etc - took it around the block and found oil dripping from the fan housing. Took the pulley housing and fan housing off and I guess the only place it is coming from is the thrower ring, there are no drips or an...

Replacing straight axle gearbox - how to raise spring plates
Hi I'm replacing a straight axle gearbox into my 68 squareback, how do I lift the spring plates to locate the axle tubes (or do I need to?). The gearbox is virtually in with the tubes fitted. I guess I should have held the spring plates in place when I removed the old box Any help appreciated Cheers...

Tailgate wont shut, please help - see pics
After I had put the rear door card in the tailgate I tried to close it, but it wouldn't move. On closer inspection I saw a the end of a pin on the hinge had broken off and the arm has moved forward. Can I try and get another bolt or pin in now or do I have to strip it all down? Any help appreciated....

68 Square - windscreen washer bottle/ hose to jets ?
I have no washer bottle in my imported squareback, so I am going to hook up a new one but I can not find a hose to connect one to. In the front trunk behind some carpet at the bulkhead is a fixed panel, so do I get to the jets from inside the car behind the ash tray?
Cheers
