Re: panel behind pedels (rhd)

Tom I think I may actually have it in the garage. Found it in a box while I was cleaning. I've definitely got that panel off something anyway!

Re: Early handbrake cables

Haha, cheers for those. I actually just had a look on the Status website before I noticed these replies (notifications aren't coming through for some reason).

I'll get on the case :)

Early handbrake cables

Anyone got any clues where I can get early handbrake cables from? Or if they're interchangeable with early bugs or something.

The ones on the car are shafted and need replacing.

Any help (and fast) would be greatly appreciated!

I have a sneaky feeling I've got one in my box of tricks :/ The pressure release that sits in the door shut on mine has snapped on the drivers side on mine so I have to manually pull the cable underneath :( I'm guessing if you can't get hold of the cable you could either have one made up (doesn't co...

Thanks Dave. We've made the geometry very close to the type 3 one anyway because of using the original type 3 mounts for central, upper and body positioning. The question was more aimed at the physical size of the threaded section of the rod end tbh. A late bug inner also has a slight kink in it. Th...

The beam has been changed for a type 1 beam anyway... and it's VERY low but it's using the type 3 inner rod ends, steering box and damper. Only problem is the inner rod end rubber has split so would fail the next MOT.

Anyone know where I can get one?

Short inner tie rod end

Hi guys.. I need to replace the short inner tie rod end, anyone know if they're the same as an early bug one? I know they're not the same as a late bug one.

It's for my 64 notch.

Need to know ASAP.

You sure Mike?

The red bug at the top has a popes nose which would make it pre 64 wouldn't it?

I'll get my coat too lol

EDIT: Just checked and it looks like the bug is the odd one out lol. Maybe a 'new' model shoot or something I guess.

Anyone remember which issue it was in?

Or give me instructions on how to lower the front of the notch?

I think what you're actually asking is how to fit a beetle 'style' beam to a Type3.

Basically you have to make new mounts for the bug beam to make it work.. but it's relatively easy to do and mine will be done in a few months time :D

As an extension to that previous thread, surely it's not necessary to change EVERYTHING listed on that thread... a 6v starter will work fine if you're not cranking it all the time... and changing the flywheel isn't needed is it? Seems a little OTT to just get 12v running... obviously to do a complet...

12V conversion

Ok.. I'm considering taking the plunge and converting to 12V on the notch. There are a few issues that are starting to affect it getting an MOT such as indicators being intermitent and stuff which seems to be voltage sensitive so I'm figuring switching to 12V will solve this. I've got a new relay fo...

Yeah, had a look on thesamba last night :)

Looks like the non-towel rail ones actually have a much shorter overrider (it doesn't go as far back on the bumper). Which I thought was a bit weird.

Cheers mike.. They've always looked taller to me but I've never actually seen the two styles side by side. In that case, I might see if I can get the guards on their own or something and get them fitted to standard overriders. Should look different at least :) Thanks for the e-mail with the pics too...
