Type 3 Exhaust Silencer

Good solid exhaust silencer. With pre heater boxes. Good for 1500 and 1600 engines The only issue I know of is that a stud has snapped off in the tail pipe mount. Easily drilled out. Otherwise this is a good solid original silencer. Only selling as I already have a spare. £70ono. UK postage is £14 h...

Type 3 tin and ancillaries

A job lot of twin port engine bits. The NS top tin has suffered badly from the tin worm as you can see. The top section is solid so it is repairable. Everything in the photos is included. The breather tower is missing is drain tube, the fan housing has had a repair and needs one of the dynamo straps...

Website improvements and updates

As some of you may have noticed, a little house keeping has gone on of late around here. With the club and this website being such a wonderful resource, we decided it was time that we made things a little easier to find. We even found things buried in the back there which we had forgotten about! So,...

6V dynamo

6V type 3 dynamo with seal. The seal is in great codition, no signs of cracking or perishing. Its still nice and soft. I have removed the pulley from the dynamo to inspect and it wasnt seized. Nor is it damaged. The dynamo spins over freely, With DF earthed and spun with a drill it reads roundly 0.1...

Re: Mystery knock solved

Bit of a catch 22 really. If you had taken it back to the original folk they may have realised and tired to cover up the mistake and charged you. But now someone else has worked on it, they will more than likely say, "nowt to do with me gov, someone else has been messing about wiith that" Or am i ju...

Re: Mystery knock solved

We really were fighting a touch one there then! With out seeing it and the size of it, the only obvious answer is down the intake some how.

Re: Going electric ??

Stolen from your other thread to close this one off nicely. "Well the 411 went off to Harry Harpics and the strip down began. I received an email with accompanying photos and a metallic object was sitting on top of the piston!!! On very close inspection of one photo it looks to me like a Jubilee cli...

Tubes look ok, breather is now just a pipe from one head to another.. but will change this so they go into the air box as they should
That should cure it, you need the crank case connected to the intake as its the vacuum from the intake that stops the case from over pressuring

Re: 1971 VW Type 3 Fastback

Youre half right. Its more that the bottom ones should be set with the notch forward and then not adjusted at all. Now I know what "the notch forward" actually relates to in a geometry sense I can set mine up correctly.

Re: 1971 VW Type 3 Fastback

Lets see if my descriptive powers and rough sketches can explain this then. I suspected the issue lay with the bottom ball joints, as theyre eccentric ive since realised this effectively gives adjustable caster. Remembering I had a set of old arms at my parents I popped in this evening and collected...
