Re: Adhesive

I read good reports on the 3m Weatherstrip adhesive, and thats what I went looking for in the local
motorfactors. But they never heard of it.

So i will be sourcing an online supplier for the future.

Re: Adhesive

Just for the record,

The application to both pieces, with a 5-10 minute interval before final application,
worked a treat.

The seal appears to be firmly held now, and would take a bit of force to move it.

Success..

Re: Adhesive

I have tried contact adhesive, but that was a useless result. I normally put on a nice bead of Tek 7, onto one surface only, and then attach whatever I am sticking. Other materials ,but not rubber until now. And i was not impressed now when I tried the seals. I took a different approach today. I put...

Adhesive

A question to the knowledgeable  Whats your best adhesive of choice for attaching hood rubber and engine rubber seals. I have used Tek 7 on bothe. But I am not entirely happy with it. It seems weak if exposed to the least amount of contact after its set. Already while fitting the front win...

Type 3 luxuries.

How many of you have splurged on type 3 expensive goodies?? Whats the most expensive item you have on your cars. My most recent was a set of Sprintstars and tyres for 400 yo yo's. I am contemplating a set of stainless steel bumpers, but not sure of the expense yet. And is it too extravagent for a ca...

I found heat gun and careful gentle approach a lot quicker at peeling off underseal,
than any wirebrush. And a lot less messier as well.

Re: 32 PDSIT choke.

I have just double checked my left hand side carb that is working correctly, viewed from looking into the engine bay. And you are indeed correct, my left hand carb choke is also marked 22 L1. So it would appear that I need the choke marked RE as mentioned by you. Sorry for the confusion, so if you h...

Re: 32 PDSIT choke.

Its definitely the correct choke. I have checked the other carb choke and its the opposite hand, and it works correctly on that carbn. So if you have amatch of the pic I sent to you, that would be great. As soon as you know the postage costs to Ireland (Eire) let me know, and we will arrive at a mut...

Re: '73 Fastback Project

WElcome back :D I think its fair to say every fastback resto suffers interruptions at some stage of the process, and will continue to do so, as its very nature is a long ongoing process. But the important thing is not to lose sight of the endgoal. Splitting the body and floor pan is the only way to ...

Re: Fastback 3 point seats.

Far more comfortable seats than the original to be fair. Greast adjustment in the seat base as well, raising the base at a flick of the lever. The blocks fitted well to the base leg, and were tight enough to fit to be honest. If I had made them slightly thinner it would have cured this. But I said I...

Re: 1972 fastback. nwe 532k

I managed to grab a set of Sprintstars with new tyres from a local beetle owner who decided on
a set of smoothies for his car.

Looking better already. Not long now before I can bring it out and break in the rings.

Re: any idea if bug parts will if late fastback??????

Early 90's Scirroco seats will fit with a bit of ingenuity As they stand they are about 15 mm narrower than the existing rails fitted in the later 72's onwards when VW changed the older toothed sliding rails. So you would either have to form additioinal blocks to make up the difference either side, ...

Re: 32 PDSIT choke.

I have checked the choke, its lifeless.

Its the drivers side that is the different one. And as for the beetle chokes I have,

they are 41mm dia, and the fasty is 50mm on mine.

I have considered fitting a 40mm dia one, with a printed collar from a 3d printer.

Anyone ever repair them??

32 PDSIT choke.

I am on the hunt for a working choke element for the drivers side carb. I currently have twin 32 PDSIT carbs fitted, but drivers side choke is not working. And they are different from the passenger chokes. If some one can point me in the direction of a source for a new one or second hand, that would...
