Re: 412 headlights
I bought a pair of 5 3/4 Headlights for a Westfield car for £28 off eBay a while ago, to replace the outer dipped beam and side lights, but they also have the full beam so I'll be fitting a relay and using the sealed beam inner lights to come on with beam, as if they were auxiliary driving lights. M...

Re: Fastback factory colours
Could still have been painted in Sea Blue, my Squareback was painted by Wolfsburg in a none-VW colour at the request of the customer, and has the VW Paint Code 69, so anything is possible.

You don't have a T4, you have a Type 2 Mk4, just like I don't own a late bay, I have a Type 2c. We get a number of people turn up in here with problems on their buses but we don't get upset, they still own a VW, it's a common mistake people make, most people have seen Type 3's, but are unfamiliar wi...

Clear plastic front indicator lenses for 411/412?
Clear plastic front indicators for 411/412, how many are interested? The chap in Norway is looking for numbers to get the cost of the order down, I'd been looking to obtain two sets, as I like to keep spares, and pmacs49 is also interested, is there anyone else? A lack of interest last time meant th...

Re: wheels & tyre sizes?
Thanks guys, mine are missing, we did try a couple of jubilee clips as spacers but it seems these are the right solution, if a little pricey.
My rubbing only occurs in reverse on full lock on the nearside front, so there's probably some wear as you say.

Re: wheels & tyre sizes?
it clears all ok but on the fullest of lock the inside of tyre just touched the inner wing, this I cured using the little metal plate thingies you put over the bottom trailing arm stopper for the stub axle. I must be having a blonde moment, any chance you can post a pick of this metal plate thingy ...

Re: Recommended Replacement Fuel Pump for 412LS Twin Carb
Mmm...its been re-wired, and the coil is brand new, along with most of the wiring connections, where exactly is the original fuel pump supposed to go? I see nowhere to fit a mechanical pump but if you point me in the right direction it might help. As regards the engine, although its in a 412 it's a ...

Nope, never been put on the car, but I've seen a recent Historic Class Mercedes Tax Disc issued on 30th September that only went for £43 on eBay, so I think the plan will be to keep it filed, but scan and print a copy, and cut out and display the copy in the window.

Recommended Replacement Fuel Pump for 412LS Twin Carb
Hi, The 412 seems to start as you let go of the ignition key, not during, and the current fuel pump is not standard and seems to run all the time, plus the fuel line after the pump almost always seems to be empty and it takes a long time to start. I'd be interested in what people have fitted. Cheers...

Re: wheels & tyre sizes?
How do you manage with the standard steering angles and lock stops on the front?
My Squareback doesn't seem to have any adjustments for restricting the lock on the steering, I'm wondering what your solution might have been.

Re: Windscreen Wipers
However, my 73 still parks them on the right, when as a RHD they would be better parking on the left. In recent rainy weather, yes I go out in the rain, its occasionally been heavy and the unswept area of the drivers window has meant that driving has been interesting to say the least, but from what ...

Windscreen Wipers
Fairly innocuous title, but did VW ever produce Type 3 Notchback, Fastback, and or Squareback with wipers fitted for RHD or left hand traffic? My Square is 73 was built for left hand traffic in RHD, but the wipers are designed for LHD in right hand traffic, much like Type 2s. Someone has shown me a ...

Re: tyres
I have Nexen 185r14 on the Type 2, came with it, but to get any sort of reasonable handling I had to up the tyre pressures from 30 Front and Rear, to 32 Front, 45 Rear, they are quite a soft tyre. I bought 165r15 Vredestein M&S for the Type 3, but may have to up the tyre pressures to improve the han...

Downside is I started looking at the 412, turns out the petrol pipe was clogged up AND had an air leak, luckily plugging the contents of the tank. Quick trip to Halfrauds and the petrol pipe was renewed and a new fuel filter moved outside the engine bay. Car started after a few spins of the starter ...

I think we're getting confused here, I have a couple of 412LS Variants, but the fault is on my Type 3 Squareback. Re: Headlight Relay
Seems I need to drill the self tappers out that hold my fuse box onto the dash, they are rusted solid, it may be been water from when the window seal used to leak that has caused this, although its been dry under there since late 2012 when the new rubbers went on from ISP West. Re: Headlight Relay
I realise it's an old thread, but is the interior light connected to the headlamp relay? I ask this because on my Square the interior light would decide not to work for a few days at a time, and then work for several, and then not again. I checked fuses and nothing amiss, even changed all my door sw...
