I got mine from woolies-trim. It was exactly the same stuff as a friend brought from a well know aircooled vw supplier yet much much cheaper. Its comes in black or white.

Hi. I think I remember this. Assume from the yellow windows its the same car? It was a full feature in Total VW magazine early year 2000.

EKF 736H - ‘68 411 4door
Does anyone know what happened to this 411? I would love a ‘68 onepeice headlight 411 4 door. DVLA use to say it was taxed until 2006. Now DVLA says it not recognised :( http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g287/type3lord/new%20album%203/CCI26102007_00002.jpg Later spotted as: http://images.thesamba.co...

Re: Not driving smoothly...
Hi- I’ve had a number of standard Bosch fuel pumps on the car, but now it’s running a new Ford Ranger electric fuel pump which produces a sufficient amount of pressure for the car (these pumps are commonly used by type 3 owners in the States as replacement for the standard Bosch pumps) - but with al...

Re: Not driving smoothly...
Finally got some free time and took the cylinder head temp. sensor out and measured its cold and hot resistance - seems to be working well and its wires and connectors are all in good condition too. Checked timing again and put on new vacuum hoses on disy. Its just it has no problems accelerating in...

Not driving smoothly...
My fuel injection 72 fastback does not accelerate or drive smoothly at low and mid range revs – it tends to jerk! It does however run fine when the engine is cold- the fault only happens when the engine is warm. I feel this could be a fuel supply issue; when cold, the cold start valve supplies the e...

Old film - Type 3 banger race abuse : (
Sorry if this is a repost. Old 1980 banger race film from Beligum I randomly found on youtube that unfortunately has a few type 3’s in it. Funky music also!

You can also get the seals from any Jaguar dealer. The older Jag V12's used the same seals. Jag part nos' are EAC002414 and EAC002415.

Re: My 72 Fastback
Thanks for the nice comments. Really appreciated. :D As you say Gentain Blue, (also known as Enzian Blue which is the same colour, L51B) was a 72 only colour. It was offered by VW on the top of the range versions of its 1302 and Type 3 models- 1302S beetles, 1600TL Type 3’s. I believe it was also us...

My 72 Fastback
My 72 Fastback at Stonor park this year. I restored this on my parents open driveway when I was younger. Found it in a farmers barn originally. It was resprayed in its original colour and I rebuilt the original engine which is still complete with its fuel injection system. http://img580.imageshack.u...

Re: Fuel injection fuel pump misery…
In the end I tracked down the Ford Ranger truck (1985-1991) replacement pump from the US. Its made by Airtex Pumps model number E2000. An ebay search for 'Airtex E2000' brings up many new pumps listed for sale (although they all had to be imported from the States when I looked). They are about £40 i...

Re: Fuel injection fuel pump misery…
Thanks Dave- I will look at that. After looking around the net a little, I have found the correct model pump from the Ford Ranger truck that many people in the US report works well with a type 3/4 fi setup. I've found a place that will ship to the UK at a good price so may look into that further as ...

Sorry to hear about Russ. Thanks for the response though. Fuel injection fuel pump misery…
Over the last year my 72 Injection Fastback’s been back on the road I’ve had so much trouble with one part – the electric fuel pump. I have purchased (at some expense) many used standard fuel pumps and all have not worked or leaked fuel immediately after fitting, or within a few months. They tend to...

Re: Fuel Injection engine now lacks power?
Yes, the tube was cracked before. I replaced it a month ago. I guessed that water got in the petrol when the engine ran badly so I drained the tank and added new petrol. I did prime it a few times and thought the old fuel would be pushed through. I guess not all the old stuff was out the system thou...

Re: Fuel Injection engine now lacks power?
Hi, This evening I checked the fuel supply. Fuel did pump through as the fuel pump spun. I then reassembled the pipes back in place. At this point I started the car and it sounded better than before. I let it run for a couple of minutes and then revved the engine at highish rpm for 5-10 seconds. It ...

Re: Fuel Injection engine now lacks power?
Hi thanks for the advice! Tonight I checked the spark going to each plug and all was ok. The plugs and leads have less than 200 miles on them. Ignition advance was good- sprung back. I looked over all hoses and although old, were all in place and had no holes and were not blocked. Sorry b...

Fuel Injection engine now lacks power?
I have a problem with my stock injection 72 Fastback. All of a sudden the engine totally lacks power. It just about starts if you hold the accelerator peddle to the floor. Then it chugs away slowly. Press the gas peddle and the response is really slow. It eventually slowly increases in rpm but there...

Fuel injection, fuel leaking lots from an injector !!!!! : o
My 72 Fastback has developed a heavy fuel leak from the base of the injector on cylinder number 3 (Looking from the back of the car, cylinder top left) and will not start. I have replaced the new fuel pipes with newer fuel pipes and fuel jubilee clips, and replaced all the rubber injector rings but ...
