Re: New E10 Petrol

We have found several Filling Stations locally selling E5 Petrol. Esso, and Texaco both within about 3 Miles. Shell about 8 Miles. I’ve always relied on Morrisons, Asda, Sainsburys for both Petrol and Diesel, until now.

Re: New E10 Petrol

Syphoned all the E10 Petrol out of the Tank of our 1966 Beetle and put it into our Audi A2, which now has a 3/4 Full Tank. Went to do the same on our 1972 Type 3 Variant but my Syphon Tube would not reach down the Filler Pipe and into the bottom of the Tank. The 1966 Beetle Filler Neck & Cap are of ...

Re: New E10 Petrol

I looked at Asda in Kendal this evening. Looked like all the Petrol Pumps were labelled E10, so I probably have used some unwittingly. I’ll try not to use it again and stick to only Super / Premium E5 97 Octane.

New E10 Petrol

Sorry if this has already been discussed on here. If it has then I’ve missed out on it completely ! Got my weekly update email from Money Saving Expert which has a bit about some new Petrol described as E10 on Sale from 1st September. May not be suitable for about 600,000 Cars. It replaces E5 95 Oct...

Thank you. Jane Terry says she will have a look at it for me this morning. My Insurer allows me to do a Self Valuation of up to £10,000 without an Expert Valuer / Club Official doing one.

Insurance Valuations

Who can we ask for Valuations for Agreed Value Insurance please ? Renewal of the Agreed Valuation on our 1972 Type 3 1600A Variant Automatic is due 1st Sept. I usually ask Paul Irving, IRVs VW Restorations but he seems to be away on holiday, so I’ve just tried emailing Jane Terry, Volksfamers. Regar...

Re: Fastback Standard Tyres

After the “ Body Off “ Resto. of our 1972 Type 3 Automatic Variant I was going to fit 5 New Vredestein 165 x 15 Sprint +. However our Tyre man suggested 165 x 15 Tyres may be difficult to source in the future and recommended 185 65 15 as the nearest size that would be likely to remain available for ...

Re: Type 3 rocker chrome lower cill trim

Have you tried Part Number 311 853 587 ? From what I remember on my 1972 Type 3 Variant the Clips were a larger than usual version of the White Nylon ones with 4 sort of Arms and Pin that pushes into Holes in the Sills. I’ve just googled 311 853 587 Suppliers like CSP CIP Wolfsburg West show them to...

Re: Windscreen Insert Trim

emailed Pilkington Classic to check availability of Type 3 Windscreen. No reply as yet. IRVs latest snag was that my Windscreen Seal is cracking. I’ve not looked if that is true yet but it is the only Window Seal that has ever been changed on my 1972 Variant. All the Side Window Seals and the Only T...

Are New Screens available please ? IRV said I should just take it to Lakeland Windscreens or any other local Windscreen Specialist. Don’t know what he is worried about. The Fresh Airbox / Bulkhead has now been re fabricated and all the under Bonnet area newly painted by IRVs VW Restorations. Don’t have a Radio in the 1966 Beetle. There is a Blaupunkt Radio in the Type 3 Auto Variant. It was already fitted when I bought the car in 1988. Have you checked your Vacuum Advance Unit Diaphragm is intact ?
