I looked into the electric pump when my push rod wore. In the end I used an electric pump from a fuel injected beetle because I had one sitting but a facet red (road) pump was rated perfectly within type 4 tollerances for use on my van. If the car was in use before being stored is it not more likely...

Not many updates recently as I have been using and enjoying my car in the little bit of summer we have left. Things are still happening however. I have just returned from Cumbernauld with my second set of shiny new bumpers; http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/BTJustice/goodbumpers001.jpg http://i...

HOW TO; TMI seat covers
I was going to add this process into the type 3 resto thread http://www.vwtype3and4club.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1796 but to save it getting lost and as it would be out of order I decided to make it its own thread. I ordered a set of TMI seat covers from Karmann Konnection which after a lot of w...

Cheers mate. I had a kinda half hearted attempt at lowering the front on Friday as I hadnt really decided if it was what I wanted. Everything was solid as its probably never been appart and as the pinch bolt on the bottom arm started to round I decided to give up. I just cant bring myself to risk a ...

Should I lower it?
I have nothing to do tomorrow and was thinking of dropping the front end of my Type 3 by 1 1/2 inches and to give me an Idea, I took pics of the car today with a 1 1/2 inch bit of paper hanging from the highest point of the wheel arch and lowest point of the spoiler. Then in Photobucket I rotated th...

I got a bit of time to spend on it yesterday to try and figure out what the problem is with the engine. I stripped it down and noticed 3 possibilities. 1, one of the cam bearings had moved slightly (allthough this may have happened as I split the case). 2, from inside I can see that the anular groov...

Not had an update for a while but things are still happening, just a lot slower than they were. As the old engine is back in and running I have been driving and enjoying the car while its sunny and its going great. I am still going to change the engine as having covered 116000 miles and with compres...

I got the old engine back in yesterday, it started first time and sounds sweet so maybe I should have been happy with what I had (even if it was loosing power on 2 cylinders). My bumpers arrived this morning and with the money I spent on them I was hoping for better but its too late to return them n...

Im suffering another mojo failure again tonight. I was half way through removing the engine again when the thunder started. Oil pressure is getting worse, even though I fitted a bugpack oil pressure booster kit and changed the oil so there must be a bigger problem. Tomorrow I will be fitting the old...

I went to get parts today but had to order them so they should be in tomorrow. GS&F only list one pressure relief valve so what you betting its the wrong one? I will also collect different oil and change kits tomorrow. As this is a pretty boring update I thought I would share what is quite possibly ...
