just got back home and now the generator light is on. Reving makes no difference (light doesnt go out) and up until today there's been no problem. No fanbelt squeal although I have checked the tightness and it does look a little loose. So now on top of the brake problem (pads arriving tomorrow hopef...

to be honest I just had a look at Dave's comment earlier on in this thread and as mine is post '71 went with the 411's.

I've ordered some anyway but if they dont fit I'll let you know.

I've been on a mission to find some reasonably priced late brake pads for my '72. After a lot of searching I've found these people. They sell early type 4's :)

I've got 185's on the rear and smart car tyres on the front. Low and no rubbing (except I cant go around half of Bristol's roads cos of the speed bumps :roll: )

Roof rack's on bud. BRM's are getting a touch up and should be on in a couple of weeks once I sort out what size rubber I can get away with at the front :badgrin: .

Had a lok under the hatch of Abe today and it looks like there's no heater hoses attached to the heat exchangers. Does anyone have a picture of their engine showing where the hoses go so I know what I'm missing please. Is it the same corrigated hose thats on a beetle? Any help appreciated. Thanks Si...

Filler neck

The first thing is going to be new seals all round as most have perished and a liberal coat of waxoil for the winter ahead. He's going to be used every day. I'll look out for you on the smooth roads of Bristol :)

Ummm does it tick over ok? take off the boot and check the bolts holding the stick down. If it vibrates on tick over it could be a dodgy ht lead or plug. Then again there's 101 things it could be. Best get it on a ramp before you get stranded. Or hopefully Dave'll read this who really knows his cars...

Front Seats

Just got my first ever type 3!! :D

It's a '72 square and I have one really realyy stupid question. How the hell do you get the front seats to go forward/backwards?

It's ok for me to drive bit the missus is quite a bit smaller than me and cant reach the pedals :lol:
