Nice detail spotting Danny.

Very intrigued about the bonnet support. Did all CKD panel vans come with this?

I'm racking my brain to remember the white one in Amsterdam - was it Kerry, from Wilts Air-Cooled, maybe? Larry and Lin would probably remember - they know him better than me. I dont think that was him, I'll have to look him up in one of the old club yearbooks (remember them? ) I should be pu...

Indeed, it's very solid. Not quite as nice as some of my other Type 3s, but a cracking car nonetheless.

Ive not seen that many over the years, there seems to be a few LHD Imported ones popping up every now and again, There was a chap (cant think of his name at the mo) who had a nice white '64 1500 'S, lives/d over Bath way, was for sale a while ago. Do you know who I mean Mr Editor? he came with us t...

Early RHD Squarebacks??

There don't seem to be many 'early' (ie: pre-1964) RHD Squarebacks around. Are there any left in the UK??

67 Fastback...

It's really strange. I've owned about 80-ish aircooled VWs, but prior to 2006, I had only ever owned one Type 3 (a '72 Variant Auto). However, since 2006, I have purchased 4 Type 3s! Is compulsive purchasing of Type 3s a disease and if so, is there a cure?? Anyway, my latest acquisition came from 'j...

Yes, the Texas yellow 412 Variant has been shown for years since the Langley brothers first restored it. I think they take it to some non-VW shows, but I expect it will be at Malvern this weekend. I don't think it gets used much though, apart from concours appearances. That Texas Yellow 412 is a tr...

Status VW have them, £120 a pair (gulp!) Ouch! Cheers Mike. Better make sure I need the 'F' Suffix ones before ordering! PS: I need these seals for a 1600 Fasty (Aug 65). Do you know if these would be the right ones? I seem to recall that there's a difference between Fasty and Notch doors (or am I ...

Dashtop repair??

Following on from my shattering windscreen experience in the Fasty, I decided to change the dash top whilst the screen is out of the car. Luckily, I managed to find an undamaged 64-67 RHD dashtop to replace mine which has some small-ish cracks across the speaker grille. Has anybody attempted repairi...

Here I am! :) The NOS seals available at the moment won't fit a 65 - or they will but you won't get the doors to shut unless your name is Geoff Capes! (and he might struggle these days!!) The ones that are available as NOS now usually have an "F" surfix (so 5 other seals came before...) and have th...

You really mean Brian parted with his Notch? I've not seen him for a while - is he OK? Dave. Yes, Brian is fine. He's happily enjoying his recently finished '67 Notch and is looking at getting back into vintage scooters! The '63 really hasn't been used for a good few years, so he has decided to let...

I think the new VWs were usually in the showrooms at the beginning of August - but could be wrong. Not sure how I could cross-check that. Certainly the importers would order a batch - there's no other explanation for finding out that of the 4 '71 Squarebacks I had at one time or another, that 3 of ...
