Re: struggling with windscreen fitment :(
been looking at new a seal for the windscreen, VW Heritage do one for £45 but the quality is described as "reproduction" so I'm not sure what to expect there.. there's a few other places doing "German quality range" ones but not sure if they have moulded corners or not either, most seem to be specia...

I only have heat in the back though, the guy whom fitted the new heater channels left the tubes out that's one reason I bought an Eberspacher but I still haven't fitted it!

Re: struggling with windscreen fitment :(
what screen rubber did you use? I tried an original seal and the trim went in nicely, just couldn't get the whole assembly in as rubber was very hard and not pliable.. I've also noticed that the screen I tried to fit is different to the one currently in with the Cal Look seal, it has some kind of XX...

Re: struggling with windscreen fitment :(
only 72/73 trim uses the diamond shaped tool to insert trim (possibly after) but the aluminium "C" type trim definetely gets fitted with the window, there is no way it can go in afterwards!

Re: struggling with windscreen fitment :(
well I've failed again today.. I'm convinced the seal I have will never see a car again! I spoke to the guy I bought the car off and he said that they tried with the same seal and gave up and fitted the Cal Look seal! I re-fitted the Cal Look seal/window on my own in about 5 minutes with no lube! so...

Re: struggling with windscreen fitment :(
thanks for the tips! it's warming up nicely in the conservatory right now so might have a go after lunch! I've ran some nylon string (Strimmer string) round the seal twice so can have two goes at it incase any parts are not quite right.. like I said before my main problem was getting the screen cent...

Re: struggling with windscreen fitment :(
I'll take the joiners out for now then.. the screen is in the conservatory right now warming up! I might run the hair dryer over the corners for a bit before installation, might just help a bit as they are not moulded..

I've heard about not putting the joiners in before until after but I'm not quite sure what that achieves?

Re: struggling with windscreen fitment :(
that's correct, it seems ideal for the job! my main problem was the screen moving around left to right but I have marked the centre of car and screen now with masking paper to make sure it keeps aligned! I will try another time and try to heat the seal up too just before fitment.

struggling with windscreen fitment :(
has anybody got any tips on fitting the front screen? I'm about to give up and call Autoglass :( tried fitting from top and also bottom and fail every time! I'm using an original seal with trim and original glass too but it all goes a bit wrong at the corners and when I attempt to reposition the gla...

Re: Carpet sets
Apologies, I'm yet to fit mine as I only got the headliner in this last week. From what I've seen of my set it looks to be alright. Did you manage to trim your front trunk set to shape in the end Marko? no, the front trunk an early is completely different to a late one! I used the material to trim ...

Re: Carpet sets
hi there what was the spirit of the 50's carpet like im after a set not bad quality but if you ask for front trunk liners or Fasty rear shelf carpet piece be aware they are for later Type 3's and don't fit early ones! when I challenged them about this the said they were all the same so as stuck wit...
