Re: Adhesive for Door Seals
The one VWISP WEST sell is 3M 8001 which is Yellow. I see there is also some 3M 8008 on ebay which is Black. Then some other called Permatex 81850 which is also Black. Sounds like a good colour for Weatherstrip adhesive to me. Anyone used these at all ?

Re: Type 3 Dash Board Top Cleaning
Thanks Dave. I have thought about using old fashioned bathroom cleaner. It doesn`t melt plastic baths. What do you think ? Also took my Sill Trim strips off to clean corrosion from them. Should I try some sort of " Rust Convertor " on them like Rustins ? Mine are only the narrow 1600A base model one...

Type 3 Dash Board Top Cleaning
Please can anyone tell me what would be safe to use for cleaning a bit of " overspray " from my Type 3 Dash Board Top Cover without damaging it ? It has been there since the " Body Off ". I just have not bothered with it until now. I have tried scrubbing it this morning with Tetrosyl " The Really Go...

Re: Automatic Transmission Front Mount
Apologies, I have not looked on here for ages ( months apparently ). I found I had a good one which I did not know about. Not really sure why. Thought I only had de - laminating ones. I was in the habit of buying any old Type 3 Transmissions I came across, so suppose it came from one of them. How mu...

Re: Type 3 71 -73 Wiper Blades
I could undercut that by a long way But I don`t know if it`s worth bothering importing them. There are only 9 pairs of these blades available now. They are lovely looking delicate Blades with SWF Germany stamped on the top. They are going on my`66 Beetle when I get some proper new silver Arms for it...

Also Available from Ge Ma Classics I think but not in their ebay shop at the moment.

Re: Type 3 71 -73 Wiper Blades
I emailed the KG Owners Club and Karmann Konnection thinking I would buy the lot if anyone was interested. Nobody was interested at all so I just bought 1 Pair for myself. They look exactly like the longer SWF ones I bought from vwed for my Type 3 but only 305mm long. SWF Packet says they are to fit...

Re: Type 3 71 -73 Wiper Blades
In my search for Type 3 Original Silver Wiper Blades, I found a source of Silver SWF Blades for Karmann Ghias. Do you think anyone will be interested in buying any please ? They are only 305mm long to fit narrower arms than the ones on my `72 Type 3. They do fit on my `66 Beetle Arms but need about ...

Apologies Dave. I saw your reply at work but we are not permitted to log on to the club ( or any other ) web site from work. Yes I think so but I`ll have to check. Not been out in the Variant since last week. I was going to rob the Voltage Stabiliser ( I thought ) from one of the Beetle Speedos I ha...

Re: Voltage Stabiliser
Dave, Really ? I just assumed it had one I thought the only cars without a Voltage Stabiliser for the Fuel Gauge were a lot older than that, like our 1966 Beetle with the mechanical Fuel Gauge. Don`t suppose anyone has found a drivers side bit of Type 3 metal Windscreen Trim yet, a Pair of Heater Pi...

Voltage Stabiliser
Please can anyone advise where the Voltage Stabiliser for the Fuel Gauge is on my 1972 Type 3 1600 Variant ? Fuel Gauge shows empty on tickover but reads O.K at higher revs. I expect it is on the back of the Speedo, or the other Instrument but it could just be anywhere inside the Dash. Don`t want to...

Re: tyres
For the biggest choice I always use www.tyreleader.co.uk or www.oponeo.co.uk or www.mytyres.co.uk I was going to put 165 80 15 Vredesteins on my 1972 Type 3 Variant after the " Body Off " rebuild but was persuaded to fit 185 65 15 because that is a common modern size which is always available. They ...

Re: Low Pressure Brake hose "Condensation"
Forgot to say, on my experiment of Fuel Hose in a jar of Brake Fluid not only did it dissolve the hose but it also turned the Brake Fluid black, so it obviously also changed the composition of the Brake Fluid. Definately not good.

Re: Low Pressure Brake hose "Condensation"
For Brake Fluid it has to be EPDM Hose (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) inner tube with aramid reinforcement. To prove it for myself, as I had Petrol Hose of the correct size, I tried putting some in a glass jar full of Brake Fluid. It just dissolved ! When I did the Variant I managed to get prope...

Re: Outer scraper chrome trim
Good luck anyway but I messed about for ages trying to restore my original Type 3 ones. Even made new stainless steel metal backing strips. Riveted it all together and decided they were still crap. Ended up just getting new assemblys from VWISPWEST. They are good !

Re: Automatic Transmission Front Mount
Peter. Yes I know I could get a used one from VWISPWEST. I just got their last Type 3 Auto Drive Plate delivered to me last week but I wanted to find someone who could refurbish them here. Seems a shame to throw them away just for the sake of a bit of rubber. I now have a used mounting and a used dr...

This how now all gone to VW Classy carts in Germany so we have access to all of these parts The 311-301-265D we cannot get im afraid, we can get that part with ei...
