Re: Early Squareback
Phoning land lines from a mobile pay as you go in Ireland would require the sale of both my kidneys. Its bloody expensive to call an Irish landline from an Irish mobile, let alone uk. Maybe if I was on billpay I might get a suitable package. But I am not a person that uses my phone excessively, so p...

I do not see an e mail address for them, and phoning is out of the question, as I am only on
as mobile with no fixed landline. Pity as their stuff looks great

Re: Early Squareback
So in anticipation of the arrival of my new treasure , I have decided to make a list  I know I will need little in the way of mechanical stuff, and I do have boxes of new stuff gathered over the years. But I would need a source for good quality replacement carpets and head lining. I know I...

Re: Early Squareback
It gets better. This really is the classic barnfind to the letter. I went to see it today to give it the once over. At first glance its scruffy looking, but underneath its a diamond. I could find no where on the heater channels, under seat at the floor area, a posts, b posts, windscreen edges. Even ...

Re: Early Squareback
Just received both engine number and chassis numbers. After checking them both it appears dates put it at approx August 66, which would have been the end of the production year, which coincides with its current irish reg of 67. And off to see it in the flesh tomorrow, 3 hour drive. But you would dri...

All them hours of hardship and grief just pale into insignificance now   Magic just magic. Looking forward now to tidying up both doors and the interior, now that i have a good engine running sweet. Took it for a 25 mile run today. Never missed a beat. Back up on the lift to check things o...

Re: Early Squareback
If its just wings then happy days :) But realistically its probably going to be more, and thats not really an issue if it does not need to be a full body off job. Whats going to be a major bonus is it has been kept in a dry shed with other collectibles for over 20 years. So fingers crossed until I g...

Early Squareback
I have been offered the possible opportunity to get an early squareback. Just waiting on pictures before viewing, and checked out ISP for parts if needed. Body panels are available but expensive, not to mention outrageous shipping charges. 300 euro wing is costing 975 euro shipping, the customs and ...

Re: Type 3 High back seat covers
If you want originality for your seats, its going to cost you. On the other hand if you want a good result with a suitable fabric, it can be done a lot cheaper. If you can beg, borrow, steal, the use of a brother sewing machine, industrial. Then salvation is at hand. Use the existing seats for templat...

Re: Vintage Voltage
Apart from the expensive price tag. You could go on some spending spree with 30k into
the classic Vw's. Type 34 would then be top of the list for me.
And by the time all the batteries, reinforcing ect is done. Would the fasty be spacious and
as useable as it would be before the conversion.

Re: Adhesive
I read good reports on the 3m Weatherstrip adhesive, and thats what I went looking for in the local
motorfactors. But they never heard of it.
So i will be sourcing an online supplier for the future.

Re: Adhesive
Just for the record,
The application to both pieces, with a 5-10 minute interval before final application,
worked a treat.
The seal appears to be firmly held now, and would take a bit of force to move it.
Success..

Re: Adhesive
I have tried contact adhesive, but that was a useless result. I normally put on a nice bead of Tek 7, onto one surface only, and then attach whatever I am sticking. Other materials ,but not rubber until now. And i was not impressed now when I tried the seals. I took a different approach today. I put...

Adhesive
A question to the knowledgeable  Whats your best adhesive of choice for attaching hood rubber and engine rubber seals. I have used Tek 7 on bothe. But I am not entirely happy with it. It seems weak if exposed to the least amount of contact after its set. Already while fitting the front win...
