Re: My fresh air vents to keep or not

I've had my fasty many years and these vents were fill in (with filler/fibreglass) before me. There had already be rot to the inner skin that holds the air box, but the 'power-bulge' was OK. But I believe having had these fill in at an early stage minimised the rot on my car. I re-did the filling in...

Re: Recommendations on getting seats re-upholstered.

Danny, that seems a bit a little bit pricey IMO. My new fasty seats I now have in (New shape Scirocco ones) got quoted £500 to cover the FRONTS in LEATHER ! stock type 3 ones must be a doddle in comparison (bit if he is good then maybe ok) I would also agree to go the TMI route, had their headliner ...

Re: swing axle or irs?

Agree with Mike, however one way around it is to convert your swing axle rear end with the IRS brackets you can purchase fron coolair,hertiage,etc... This is what I have done but on a late model - this was to provide more support for a type 4 motor (pics on my photobucket - link on some oher thread!...

i've not put anything under the carpets other than the felt type insulation - unglued. have bitumen type pads on other panels, these are readily available for car paint shop suppliers. they're self adhesive and flexible. ....like these... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-VAN-VEHICLE-SOUND-DEADENING-PRO...

Re: eingine tuning options

without going 'mad' i'd suggest the following :- 1641cc mild cam (engle 110) twin weber 36/40's merged exhaust if you can stretch to it, reworked heads. keeping the changes to 'mild' you can avoid having a full flow oil system and retain reliability. I do not suggest lightening the flywheel, the typ...

Re: Type 3 Alternator

was done back in 1992. You have to cut the type 3 alloy fan housing, which is the only disadvantage, but the conversion never failed and i sold the motor with it on. The other good thing was the beetle alternator was not modified in any way so easily replacable (the rear alt spindle for fixing the t...
