Re: My 1972 fast back l

Would a good compounding with a buffer and decent compound polish not likely cut away the hazing, or will it be the full clear coat that's gone?

Re: front beam upper bearings

Many thanks! I've spoke to T2D, they can actually get hold of some bearings, but was advised it's a pig of a job! I'll try the above first :)

Re: Headlight Switch.

Hello, apologies for digging up an old thread, but I'm in the market for a headlamp switch for my 71 Fastback, which pulls out twice for main beam, and twists for dash illumination. Except the dimming keeps cutting in and out. Can anyone point me in the right direction to acquire a replacement?

Re: Struggling to get seats out

Ouch £40...are they the same as a ghia or any other models? Pretty sure they're different to beetle ones.

Re: Struggling to get seats out

Thanks! That's really odd...the drivers side which is the one that was not sliding properly, has the plastic slider rails. The passenger side, which was moving freely, doesn't. I'm confused :/

Bumper bolt sizes?

Hello, I've got a type 3 fastback that has had the bumpers taken off before I owned it. I have the bumpers with brackets attached and the front damper/reinforcement, just wondered if anyone could tell me what size bolts I need to buy to re-attach them?

Re: Carpet sets

I contacted JBug but they cannot supply to UK. TMI will ship direct from the states. Type 2 detectives had some but they were expensive. I've ended up ordering black ones from Spirit of the 50's.

Re: Struggling to get seats out

Don't forget to lift the release knob on the outer side of the seat base first! Try rocking it sideways to free the guides on the runners (which should be plastic material. Once it starts moving forward, it will hit the spring tab, so press it down as mentioned. If you have carpet on the tunnel, th...

Possibly, I'm waiting to hear back off them. I'm calling Spirit of the 50's in a little while to get pricing, I'll update once I've done so.

Re: Struggling to get seats out

You're describing the very late 3 rail system... As this a 71 it will be 2 rail which uses a spring clip on the inner rail. Its needs pushing down with a long screw driver so a tab on the seat base can pass over it. Once its moving though! Mike Zaha! I will give this a try and report back :) Many t...

Struggling to get seats out

Hello, I'm currently stripping the interior out of my 71 fastback to refurb. I've got all fabrics et c out but the seats won't budge. I know in beetles they slide and lift off, is it the same in the type 3? I've given the rails a liberal dousing in wd40 for now in the hopes they're just ceased up.

Re: Carpet sets

I'm looking into a set from Jbug in California, works out cheaper than a lot of the UK suppliers from what I've seen so far.
