Re: tax exemption/ build date

Yeah, this I've got to check, since the car was first Registered in the UK on 1st July 1974, it must have stood for a while in storage somewhere.

Re: Key Stuck in Ignition!

I had a similarly lucky escape, I turned off the ignition, removed the key and heard something fall on the floor outside the car, half the ignition key had fallen off...

Re: Clock repair

Yeah, but when you've taken it to bits, which bit is the bit you should replace to get it working?

Re: tax exemption/ build date

Interesting, I've just bought a 74 412LS Variant that is supposed to be manufactured in October 73, when I pick it up I'll have to check this out.

Avatars

Erm...what happens if you've got a roadworthy 1973 Type 3 Variant (Squareback), and have just bought a roadworthy 1973 Type 4 412LS Variant as well, there doesn't seem to be an avatar for that...

Yes, it was picked up by the Telegraph as well, great news for me, in a year's time...

Re: Improving Squareback Brakes.

Yes, first few times using them and you think you're never going to stop, but eventually you build a confidence in them, and adjust your driving style accordingly. Saying that, it takes me a while to get used to driving a modern car after spending any length of time behind the wheel of the square.

Re: Damaged square

Anything can be repaired, anything (if you throw enough money at it), when we get down to the last few cars I hope people reconsider that the Insurance Company is not always right, and even if they can't personally afford to repair that there may be someone out there that can.

Re: Another Sale weekend at the Elderly Gents House!

I'm still none the wiser where this Elderly Gents House actually is, I wouldn't mind a good look around, I've actually secured a tow bar now but there's still bits of trim, and of course I'm still on the look out for 3 point high back seats, even though I've sourced some low backs.

Re: Another Sale weekend at the Elderly Gents House!

Still looking for a Tow Bar for a Type 3, which weekend will the event take place?

Also, a few tiny bits of trim if they are available, but I suspect I'll have to hunt these down elsewhere.

Re: Another Sale weekend at the Elderly Gents House!

I'm interested in a tow bar for my Squareback, I noticed there were two, with one sold, is there anything left?

Re: Front Pad dual pins

Are we sure about this, the OP has listed these as from 4/71, mines a 4/73 model, and I'm sure the pads in mine are oval shape, those in the picture look square shaped? I've sourced a Disc Hardware Set for a 73 model, the part number is SG31, made by Wagner, from Machine 5 Autocentre, in the US. I t...

Front Pad dual pins

Hi, I need to get hold of a set of dual pins for the front axle for locating the front disc brake pads on my 1973 Type 3, so far I've been unable to source anywhere that sells a disc brake hardware kit (should include the pins and retaining springs) for this model, has anyone got any ideas where I c...
