Re: Insurance

In general insurance costs are rising as I believe the tax on insurance premiums itself has risen. I insured my Fastback with Adrian Flux in January with a limited 3000miles and a value of £6000, it was around £90, however, I think this is before the new increases came into action.

Nice work, looks like a decent solution. Such a PITA job, not something I ever want to do again lol

Re: 68 Fastback

In answer to your question re: bug brakes, I'm running ATE bug calipers up front after one of my originals seized, they work fine and stop the car well :)

Re: Throttle not returning to idle?

Still working on this btw, have the circlip now just need another pair of hands to reconnect the accelerator cable. I have managed to squirt wd40 into the tube though, feels like it's moving smoother already.

Re: Throttle not returning to idle?

I've ordered the missing items along with a spare throttle cable(I'm currently without), I'll report back once all is assembled as it should be.

Re: Throttle not returning to idle?

Maybe the warmth of a run dries out the old grease on the cable? WD40 squirted down the conduit, maybe? I'll give it a try. I've currently got the fpotwells stripped down looking at the pedal assembly, it appears to be missing a circlip securing the arm for the throttle cable to the pedal shaft, so...

Throttle not returning to idle?

I noticed yesterday on the run back from Stanford Hall that my throttle would not return to idle when releasing the accelerator. This actually proved a nice form of cruise control on the way through the m6 average speed sections as it sat quite nicely at 50 in fourth. I'm going out today to clean an...

Re: More help please!!!!

Might not be of use here, but on other vehicles when I've fitted aftermarket induction kits I've used breather filters on breathers, would those be of any use here? They can be had quite inexpensively.

Re: More help please!!!!

Not much help until I can get the car jacked, but the pipe from the bottom of the breather is connected up behind the fan shroud somewhere. My flat part of drive is blocked now but I'll jack it this week to have a look. http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k99/chino_uk/fasty/F4085290-1668-4BC7-960F-CFD...

Re: VW Budburg at Oulton Park, Cheshire May 5-7th

Is this a renaming of last years Dubworth or a competitor ? Chino, where are you :) ??? Apologies only just seen the thread! No, this is not Dubworth, my wife and myself are not involved in the organisation of this event in any way. I believe ex-volksworld staff and Just Kampers are having a input ...

Re: Stabiliser re-dimpling

Finished tonight. Dimple/set screw seems ok, carried out adjustment, just went slightly tighter til axial play was no longer evident. Took it for a spin, seems a lot nicer behaved, tucks its back end in a lot better :) steering feels slightly light but I suspect I just need to drop tyre pressure dow...

Re: Stabiliser re-dimpling

Right, plan of action tonight. Get the car up on axle stands on the beam, wheels off to allow access, blocks of wood beneath hubs to simulate car being on its wheels. Slacken off lock nut on passenger side, check setscrew. If all is good, re-fasten setscrew on passenger side, tighten lock nut. From ...
