Re: Indicator flashing

It is how it is, but im in the middle of a modd to make left signal left and right singal right. It adds some addition connectors and wiring. Which is why I suspect VW didnt do this originally. Probably would have added a Deutsche Mark to the cost of each car. You can take the wiring off the block ...

Re: Indicator flashing

Thing is it's taken me 3 years to really think about it :retard: I do still have a problem i think with the instrument cluster, when the ignition is off and the hazards are put on the fuel gauge swings with the same frequency as the hazards :D. So I guess there is an earth fault still (and probably...

Don't worry, lots of people think this. The indicators do the same in buses as well.

Re: 411 sedan handling?

The VW book says 18psi on the fronts and the understeer is heroic at that. I run mine at 24psi and it's transformed the handling. I would agree that 20 year old tyres would be the problem. Judi R Would the handbook figure be for crossplys though? It is in my '67 handbook. That run much lower pressu...

Re: Parts sources

Id include VWHeritage as well, they are a VW affliate and carry a fair few type 3 specific parts Heritage Parts Centre now, no VW affiliation. I wouldn't use them unless it's a last resort, had wrong parts sent, poor after sales service, and there's a definite lack of knowledge there now (won't bee...

Re: Help! Fastback Body Removal

Random idea ! Alan Schofield make repair panels for Type 2, T25 and T4 as well as Beetle They make many of the parts that others sell. Have a word with them about expanding the range to include type 3 panels.????? I spoke to them a couple of years ago. Not a big enough market to offset costs appare...

Try a local auto electrician. If they can't do it, they'll know a company that can.

Re: MOT exemption

All my classics get MOT'd annually.
They don't require one, I'd rather have them looked over by someone else, especially as they're all modified in one way or another.
You can guarantee your insurance company will try everything to get out of a claim, and I'd rather not give them this as a reason.

Oh, that's not how I thought it was going to be fitted.
On TheSamba.com there's a thread about alternator conversions and someone posted this.

Depends on the offset (ET) which should be stamped on the rear of each wheel. These were tight, needed the arches rolling.

Re: Another carb problem

Quite a lot actually, and the engine lid was modified to stop the air cleaners knocking against the metalwork.

It's even worse with phenolic carb gaskets to help prevent heat soak to the carbs.
