Re: 53 Year old Barnfind, running.
It will get me around the yard, and thats the commitment I made to the guy that sold me his deceased fathers car :) And he was surprised that it took only 2 days to check the engine and pin down the problem. And it was this problem that put this car pushed onto a boat for Dublin back in 1970, becaus...

Re: 53 Year old Barnfind, running.
Considering that 50 years ago this car was resigned to the shed because the wrong distributor was fitted to it by some well meaning mechanic. This meant that the vacuum unit did not allow the distributor to revolve enough to allow the proper setting of the ignition timing. When we examined it the ti...

Re: 1967 VW Variant
In this picture of the inner wing at the rear on the drivers side,
you can clearly see the inner wing seal that is intact, and still sealing the wing area as it
is meant to. Strangely enough its supple and strong even after all these years.

Re: 1967 VW Variant
This area rarely survives through the years. My own white fastback did not have a trace of this flap or surrounding metal. Yet on this 53 year old car, its intact and serviceable, with the rubber seal. https://i.imgur.com/7bfKjZp.jpg And the valve settings are the recommended 4 thou, and heads are c...

Re: 1967 VW Variant
There is no place at all on the floor pan that needs any repairs. The only welding required is in the area of the bumper mounts, front and rear. And a little low down on the front clip. Thats is, job done. There is absolutely no need to split the shell from the pan. This is an amazing barnfind, best...

Even down to the two flap doors on the water chutes at each side of the engine bay,

This is truly an amazing car.

Re: Early Squareback
Car was delivered today. Its a cracking little motor. I had to free a seized wheel on the front passenger side. And I was amazed at the condition there. The caliper was in great visual condition. Even down to the packed grease around the pins that hold in the pad, and the cross spring as well. But r...

Re: Early Squareback
Agreed, now it will see the road, in the one car, instead of lots.
Parts wise it would be worth more money than i paid.
But complete as a car, its worth more to me
