Pics from the 60's and 70's

How about a thread for period pictures of type 3's? I'll start with some I have come accross online; http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/BTJustice/b9c202c6ff434f013cc269c49351cee6_im.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/BTJustice/blknwhtpicoftype3s.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335...

I thought I should mention this here incase anybody else has the same experience. I have just had to take out the side parts of my carpet set to send them back to Newton commercial as the seams arround the heater outlets started to come appart. I havent been using the car so heat wasnt a contributin...

Small update but full of setbacks annoyingly. I got my seat covers through from TMI. The rear seat is the wrong model so I have started the front seats and done the base of the rear seat. I will post pics once I get the right covers and complete the job. The carpets have had to go back, some of the ...

I think the problem is the wheel is from an earlier car. As far as I know the later cars with the wash/wipe stalk had a 4 spoke steering wheel with the big flat horn push.

Sorry, forgot to update the prices. Postage in the end cost £43 and the duty was £32+£8 parcel force charge for form filling. I bought the ceramic coated exhaust, cool air bellows and a carb ballancer. Looking online at UK prices, T3D have an uncoated version of the exhaust and the bellows and SSP d...

Completely rotten. It had been left sitting in a yard surrounded by long grass and the inside was so damp the carpets were green with moss.

Sills were no longer attatched to the edge of the floor pans as it had rusted through.

Bit sad seeing how it looked before it went rotten.

Re: Scanned in some old pics - recognise any?

Quick update on how thing are progressing. I went back up to Jacks last night with the crankcase I will be using and measured up what bearings I need. These will be ordered up on Monday from GS&F. We also spent a bit of time converting the type 1 case for use in my type 3 engine. This involver remov...

I have just bought that exact exhaust. I dont see it effecting the heater at all. There may be a little less heat over all coming through without the small exchangers but I went from a stock exhaust with the small exchangers to a stock exhaust without them and noticed no difference at all. I would a...

Ceramic coated exhaust has arrived from the US so I am itching to have something to fit it too, how good does this look? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/BTJustice/newzorst002.jpg So Satu...

I went and ordered all the foam for re-trimming my seats today as I was expecting delivery of the TMI covers from Karmann Konnection in the next few days. Got home to find an e mail from KK telling me the covers weren't there and may be in the next batch. I have waited 4 weeks so far so I really hop...

Haynes manual: "Before dismantling the engine, clear a clean area in the workshop. Remember to keep all internal components scrupulously clean." never worried me. the internals are covered in dirt and soot anyway so not much point stressing about scrupulous cleanliness. Any dirt big enough to harm ...

Did we loose a few weeks posts? Oh well. I started some work towards the engine re-build today. I still need to get the type 3 engine that I will be re-building from Jacks place but I had this engine which my van supplier put in a van for me. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj32/route9autos/fasty...

Im building up a new engine and managed to pick up 2 NOS exchangers so everything will get cleaned up and painted/powder coated where needed.

Glad its got a nice noise, in a weird way this is almost the most important bit of buying an exhaust :p

Well, thats it ordered and I will let you know how it is when it arrives.
I also ordered a carb ballancer which came in at £14 and a set of cool air bellows which were only £6 and he is putting them in the box with the exhaust so no extra postage costs.

I will probably cop for 17.5% of the purchase price plus postage costs but it still works out pretty cheap for a ceramic coated exhaust.
I have asked the guy about combined postage as I am interested in a few things so as soon as he gets back to me I will be ordering one.

I was at the workshop all day and the car is now finished but this is going to sound like a wind up, photobucket is down for maintenance so I cant show you any pictures.

I will post pics ASAP.

I couldnt get up today as I had to work but Mick did a few hours on my behalf, cheers mate. With the polishing finished all that was left was to give it a good coat of wax to protect the paint and make it all shiny; http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj32/route9autos/resto020208003.jpg http://i268.p...
