Re: My Notchback.... One for the haters
This front end of mine, having researched my options available for the front end of a type 3 it's from what I can tell is going to be the easiest. Any option requires fabrication. Either convert to a beetle frame head and then go with one of the double wishbone setups available or go custom. Going c...

You can have mine on display for the weekend if there is space left, it's in the shop now and will be ready to roll in a couple of weeks. Might of even had it resprayed by the end of March too. May need you on the Sunday if you still want to display? Slow worker and far too much optimisium on my be...

Still no MOT or new gearbox. I've got the box but it hasn't gone into the shop to be fitted yet. Just been accusations bits and pieces really. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/redevol/B6B7C205-A8CD-4DCB-89F9-20AB49ADCECA_zpsxqixjwkt.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b37/redevol/FF213A16-781...

Re: My Notchback.... One for the haters
Had a rethink about my gearbox so I've ordered a new one. Got it booked in for four weeks with my mate to give me a hand getting it in there. Undecided whether to stick with the cable shifter or attempt to return it too a rod base system also I can't remember if there is enough room in the tunnel wi...

Re: New door cards
Righto, after waiting 16 weeks for VW heritage to come up with the goods the truth was revealed and they hasn't ordered them. Apparently it's something to do with waiting until they have an order over £500 before they'll commit to ordering them. My mates father is going to make me some. Bought some ...

Re: Wheel width and fitment
I have 7.5j x 17, 205/40/17 tyres and don't have any rubbing issues.
I have got porsche brakes on mine though.
Beetle wheels have the wrong offset and will cause rubbing issues.

Hmmm, you may have come to the right place, I removed a perfectly good set of dials to fit my porsche ones. I wanted a rev counter and a water temperature gauge. Re: My Notchback.... One for the haters
what are the gauges you've used? They are out of a porsche 944, 924 ones are similar. I have the white dial ones with blue led bulbs fitted which look like mk4 golf style gauges..... Quality haha. You can get them in yellow and green dials too. Green are 924 and yellow are early 944. The gauges are...

Re: New door cards
Whoop whoop!! Thanks gents. I purchased a set today from vw heritage. Worked out at £280, I didn't anticipate spending a further £270 on the odds and sods that I purchased from there too. But at least ill have a single wipe function on my wiper stalks. That and plenty of new bits and pieces to compl...

New door cards
Anybody know where I can buy some new door cards to suit a late shape notch? Or am I to be forced down the road of reconditioning/remanufacturing a set? I've still currently got some good door cards which I was going to recover. But I'm getting fed up with making bits for the car and just wanted to ...

It worked fine for me. Would recommend getting a longer dipstick as its tricky with a short one. It's tricky anyway but it is possible to live with it.

Re: Hi & Q about which boss kit for steering wheel on a fast
I bought a steering wheel and was told it was for a late beetle. Guy didn't mention what year it was from but it fitted my 72 squareback and my notch. Not much help I know...... However I do have a 13" or 15" mountney steering wheel spare in the garage, which needs a new home. This'll fit your car. ...

Re: FI Fuel tank outlet connection '73 type 3
It's a standard tank outlet that I had modified. I used a barbed fitting and brazed it to the tank outlet after I expanded the outlet hole.
Places like pirtek can supply the barded fitting, either that or I could sort it for you.

Re: Steel fuel pipe
You'll need to use something substantial. A thick wire. Think I've used cable before but be carefull cause it'll easily tair when put under load then your f***ed. Start at the fuel tank, push the wire through. Once it underneath near the gearbox tie it too the drive shaft. Then go to the fuel tank a...

Re: Steel fuel pipe
The best method of replacing a fuel line would be to get some suitable wire and force it inside the old fuel line. Tie it at one end then pull the old fuel line out, then you aiming to get the wire inside the new fuel line and guide the new fuel line into place. The theory is that your using the wir...

You can use nylon hose. Get it on eBay very cheap.
