Re: '67 Square continued.....

Hello chaps. Got a little issue with the brakes I hope someone can assist with. The brakes are stopping the car, but the pedal feel is non-existent. Loads of play for the first 2/3 - 3/4 of the travel and then some pressure. I can adjust the pedal push rod to get the required free play and a pedal a...

Re: 60 years of the Type 3....display at Avoncroft VW Show Bromsgrove 16th May 2021

Just out of interest, how many are members on here? Not too many, but it's not necessarily a club display, more just a celebratory type 3 display, members or not, I'm just using this thread on this forum as it's easier to add names too. I'm aware that it's not necessarily a club display, was asking...

Re: How are we all?

I haven't worked for the last 8 weeks, and been unable to work on any of my vehicles. Not that they need anything major, so have just been driven regularly for "essential" journeys. Been pottering around the house and garden doing a few jobs. I really hate decorating. To be honest I'm struggling a l...

Oh, I'm sorry Broady I really can't let that one go. The original series was not a cartoon, it was Supermarionation, puppets on strings, not involving Sandie Shaw.

Re: Getting to the Wiper Switch

Should be just 2 screws securing the fuse box to the bottom of the dash, undo those and the fuse box will drop far enough to pull the wiper switch out.

Re: Getting to the Wiper Switch

Unscrew the wiper switch knob, then undo the metal retaining collar (being careful not to scratch the dash) and the switch will drop backwards out of the dash.
Might be best to disconnect the battery first just in case you ground anything against the metal dash.

I've still got my originals from the 60s, along with all my Captain Scarlet toys. Unfortunately they're not still boxed or I'd be able to retire.

Just persevere, mine is the same. You just need to start on one issue and get that fully sorted before starting on another.

The mojo is back, for the moment anyway

A wash and polish, although it really needs a machine polish to get the paintwork back.

Re: '67 Square continued.....

Yes, fully ported and manifold matched Magnum 044 heads, 40mm inlet & 35mm exhaust valves, Engle 120 cam with 1:1.25 rockers.
Compromise between drivability and outright performance as I would like it as a weekend "daily driver".

Re: '67 Square continued.....

Probably a little more than that, engine builder reckons it will rev to 5.5/6k and have a conservative 150bhp.

Yes, a 2128cc (80 x 92) is currently at the engine builders. Should be good for a reliable 150 lb/ft.

Standard 1st, 2nd, 1.21 3rd, 0.77 4th, and standard 4.125 final drive, and larger rear tyres.
As soon as I hit any sort of incline it's downshift time.

Re: '67 Square continued.....

Yes mostly. Brakes are still soft and the starter is playing up, it doesn't seem to be correctly engaging the flywheel even though it's seated correctly. 3rd, 4th and the final drive is massively overgeared for the stock 1600, so it spends a lot of time in 3rd at the moment, but I'm just happy to be...

I have no battery holddowns on my floorpans, so I can go a little larger than stock. I'll need to measure the actual flat surface to get a base size.
