Re: Trawling through ebay..

There's a 'complete' 411 on ebay at the moment. Seems like a small project, assuming the brakes are working!
Another one comes out of the blue!

not bad - just one patch on the end of the sill as it enters the rear inner wing. Really just need a few hours of time. Been spending too much time in Bulgaria - every holiday since the summer!! Going again at the end of next week. I have bought all the paint to give her a bit of a tidy up too. Flip...

Progress going well. Just the final lower outer bit of the sill to do then the bit on the inner arch. Almost set light to the car when a fire started on the inside! Luckily I had a glass of apple juice next to me....

Re: I am restoring a 412 4 door sedan

I am kind of wishing I had chosen an easier colour as this metallic paint is tricky. It keeps leaving streaks but I can only see them once the lacquer goes on. You cannot sand the base coat before the lacquer as there are tiny metal particles in the paint that give it the glint. It's coming up reall...

Yeah - it's kind of scary what lies behind some innocent looking bubbles when you poke but at least when it's done, I know it should be good for another 20 years! The other side looks better. Good luck Dubster - let's see some pictures and compare notes.

Why I am busy this weekend and cannot make Action!

Here goes - just a little poke with the dreaded MOT poking stick. He said it just needed a patch but then I came home and attacked it with and old screwdriver and a grinder. Mmmmm. The 412 restoration will have to be put on hold!!! http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/vv255/kps1970/411%20variant/rears...

It's around £110 for a master cylinder re-bore if they have not put up their prices recently.

Hi Jon - managed to source an engine lid - it's 80%. What is yours like?
Managed to get a NOS brown vinyl roof kit from the 70's on ebay £16 - RESULT!!!
So, no need to spend ages sanding and painting the roof and save on paint..
Got the bit between my teeth now ;-)

Re: I am restoring a 412 4 door sedan

Well, now it's the holidays, I've started painting the project! Did the front valence today. Needs a few more coats then lacquer. It's looking good. Pictures soon. I have done it in Ford Solar Gold, a little brighter than the original colour. Thinking of doing a brown vinyl roof for that retro look!...
