Couple of updates. i fixed my wing mirror, thankfully. I cut the old arm stud off flush, drilled and tapped a new hole and whacked in some new m6 threaded rod (with a bit of loctite). :D :D :D Seems to be holding up pretty well. There should be a spring that fits above the dome nut, and yes, a flexible washer behind the mirror stops the paint being damaged.
