I have emailed Ge.-Ma.-Classics ( Volksfreak ) ebay shop. I know they had Repair Kits, which I expect would have been German made.
Will post their reply on here.

Re: Exhaust/Heat exchanger hoses?
They came with the After Market Exhaust Kit when I fitted one. Think it was EMPI. I didn`t like it. Less heating. Too noisy with a Glass Pack on. Had to bend the Rear Lower Panel to fit a Quiet Pack Silencer. Reverted back to Original soon after. Not seen the Vintage Speed ones before but they do lo...

Will let you know what they come up with. I have seen Repair Kits on Ge.-Ma.-Classics ebay shop in the past but do not think they are on there at the moment.

Well done. Didn`t have the Timing Hole Grommet as well did they ? Looks like you have got a proper one on there. I have to make do with a 25mm ordinary grommet. I know you can get the proper ones from 1500 Notch and elsewhere but £6.99 !

Re: Fuel pump rebuild kit?
By coincidence only yesterday I asked the company who got me a brand new Pierburg genuine Type 3 Pump from their supplier Germany ( the very last one they had ) about getting Repair Kits. They are going to get back to me next. It does not seem likely they will cost any less than the ones you have fo...

Re: Rear brake hoses
I know this is not much help at all but I changed the entire braking system of my 1972 Type 3 Automatic Variant about 6 years ago lying / kneeling on the concrete floor of a single garage. I do not remember it being too bad. Having said that, I do remember some of the moves had hernia inducing poten...

Condenser Wire Not Long enough
Does anyone still make a Condenser with the Wire long enough for a Late Type 3 ? I just got the BERU ZK 125 that VeeWee ( GSF ) list as being correct but at onlt 8.5cm the Wire is not long enough to reach from the proper Condenser mounting position to fit the Grommet into the round Hole in the Distr...

Dave,
Not sure about the " Plastic Side Cheeks " ? Mine look like Chinos. Are those the " Plastic Side Cheeks " ?
Mine seem to be steel.

Re: Differences between square back and fastback front seats
The originals in my 1972 Type 3 Variant look like the ones in Chinos photo, including the same side " cheeks ", except Chinos have been nicely re covered. Mine are still original Basket Weave and a bit tatty but a but they are NOT 3 Rail. I got some years ago in much better nick than mine from a scr...

Re: Fuel Pipe replacement
There should be Metal Fuel Pipe ( 2 if it is Fuel Injection ) all the way through the Centre Tunnel of the Chassis. If it goes any other route i.e. inside the car or under the floor / chassis then it has been replaced due to failure of the original(s) inside the chassis. The ones on my 1972 Type 3 ar...

Distributors
I set out to fit an Accuspark electronic unit to my 1972 Type 3 Automatic Variant today but it does not fit. I have emailed them of course to ask why not. My Distributor has a round hole on the body for the original wire to pass through. Their kit has a square grommet, which is far to big. When the ...

The 1300 Twin Port AB engine was bought as a used unit with no Warranty but new Heat Exchangers, Silencer and Clutch. Re: Clutch ? Flywheel
Bad News. I got a local garage to take the Engine out of the Beetle yesterday. The Flywheel Bolt was loose, so the Flywheel was loose. Dowel Holes in Crankshaft and Flywheel are damaged. So it`s an Engine Rebuild with Crankcase Machining. New Crankshaft and Flywheel, unless the 4 Dowel Holes can be ...

Clutch ? Flywheel
I know it is not a Type 3 or 4 but my 1966 1300 Beetle was making a rattling noise from the engine area on tick over. I thought maybe the cooling fan was loose or it could be the dynamo bearings. Had the Beetle out the other day. Parked it outside the garage. Went to put it inside later but could ge...

Dave. Found Mega Bug were doing proper black rubber stuff at £5.95 for 2 Metres both on e bay and on their website. I asked if it only came in 2 Metre lengths, as that`s not quite enough to run all the way from the left hand front of the bonnet to the bulkhead, then all the way across to the steerin...

Re: FRONT BRAKE PIPES ?
For Brake Fluid it has to be EPDM Hose (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) inner tube with aramid reinforcement. To prove it for myself, as I had Petrol Hose of the correct size, I tried putting some in a glass jar full of Brake Fluid. It just dissolved ! When I did the Variant I managed to get prope...

Rhod Grubb used to have body panels, including Type 3 Sills I think. I got a full set of Floor Pan Edges, Sills and Heater Channel Bottoms from Type 3 Detectives. Status VW also were doing the Sills and Floor Pan Edges at the time but the Heater Channel Bottoms were unique to Type 3 Detectives. Phot...
