Re: '67 Square continued.....

New electric fuel pump mounted on the beam, just needs the wiring terminated. https://i.postimg.cc/MZLDNmgk/IMG-3158.jpg There was a clearance issue with the spare wheel well, but a couple of adjustments with a rubber mallet cured that. https://i.postimg.cc/k57FK1RS/IMG-3159.jpg https://i.postimg.cc...

New 8mm copper fuel hardline from under the tank to the engine compartment. Re: Fastback Standard Tyres

The original tyres would have been 6.00/15 bias ply (cross ply), the modern equivalent is 165/80/15.
Your 165SR15 is 165/82/15, so you're running the closest size.
You can still buy Michelin XZX in 165SR15.

My brakes took hours of bleeding to get a decent pedal, they're perfect now.

Re: '67 Square continued.....

Managed to snap the metal fuel hard line where it goes into the front of the tunnel, it must have been weakened and I'd rather it break now in the lock up with no petrol around than somewhere miles away from home with a full tank. So now the plan is to replace it with a new 8mm hard line that follow...

Back at the lockup today, ready to fit the newly cleaned and painted thermostat, bracket and flap linkage. https://i.postimg.cc/B6DPSHzK/IMG-2845.jpg Hmm, that doesn't look right. https://i.postimg.cc/QChCjP52/IMG-2856.jpg The rod won't go through the smaller of the holes in the head. https://i.post...

Re: '67 Square continued.....

When I changed the fuel pipes in the Type 3 engine bay I thought I would undertake an experiment to see if there was any "real world" difference between Cohline ethanol proof hose and a premium ethanol resistant hose. I used a tee piece and the fuel hose (blue text) to the left hand carb was ethanol...

Re: '67 Square continued.....

Slightly more progress on the square now I'm COVID free and out of self-isolation. Took a drive in the bus the long way round to the lockup. https://i.postimg.cc/pXGqVQLn/IMG-2781.jpg I've come to a temporary halt on the engine while I await the delivery of some parts, so I thought I'd tackle the ne...

Re: '67 Square continued.....

Spent a couple of hours cleaning a pair of flaps and a pivot rod in the blast cabinet.
Most of that was waiting for the compressor to recharge the air tank though.

And after a quick coat of primer.

I have a type 3 cooler that came off my 30k motor - its perfect.
I went with a remote filter and cooler and modified the tinware to get good cylinder cooling.
I can get photos of the cooler to you if you're interested

Thanks, it will be appreciated.
I'll pm you.

Re: '67 Square continued.....

Progress on any vehicle has been slow lately, so I'd thought I'd make a start on the new engine. https://i.postimg.cc/qvz89Y7f/IMG-2750.jpg The first thing I do need is a good condition oil cooler though, or I may end up fitting a new Type 1 cooler and a remote oil pressure sender. Checked and strip...

New lifter channel and rubber installed today.

Some sexy toy there! Looks like 944 seats in the front of the bus too?
Very similar, 1971 911 Carrera seats. Picked them up from a Porsche garage just North of Stamford for the princely sum of 100 English Pounds.
Everything else in the back of the deluxe bus is for the type 3.

Gave the square a run out today, and thought I'd have a go at putting the n/s glass back in the lifter channel.
Ah, that's a bit more work than I thought.

Looks like I need a pair of lifter channels then.
