Today at our club meet I enjoyed a great drive out but when I came to leave the car wouldn't start. (and I was the last one in the car park.) Whilst waiting for the rescue bloke I traced the fault to a dodgy relay for the fuel pump and by putting 12V straight to the pump I got the car running again....

driving automatics

As you know I have just bought FUDGE the 412 squareback and I was wondering about some basics. Reading the haynes manual the other night (as you do!) the gearbox section said that the only gear to start the car in was neutral. I'd previously been told that park was a fine way to start. Who's right (...

Re: FUDGE is back in the fold!

One of the secretaries wanted something to clean her phone with (well you know what its like answering calls whilst eating chips & doughnuts over a period of several years!) anyhow...the lab technician gave her some acetone to give her telephone a 'like-new' look and the secretary managed to morph t...

Re: FUDGE is back in the fold!

Thanks for the suggestions and praise - the interior is straight out of the 70's (of course) and has that slick vinyl feel about it! just a shame that the drivers seat has a small tear in. As far as chemicals go - I will steer clear. I am a chemistry teacher and I would say that nail varnish remover...

Re: Whats an original Type IV Eber exhaust pipe look like?

Did you ever get your heater exhaust sorted? I just bought a 412 squareback and although I have yet to get under it properly, there is only one exhaust pipe sticking out the back so I guess mine has gone too.

Re: my 72 412

I've just bought FUDGE from a bloke in Leeds. Still looks mostly great but is suffering from a seriously rusty drivers side wing and a lot of awful stickers at the moment. Looking like this: http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p278/kembiff/Variant%20Fudge/P1040952.jpg http://i130.photobucket.com/albu...

FUDGE is back in the fold!

I just brought FDG393L home to Durham from Leeds. Loving it too much already! 8) Looking to rebuild the history as well as the car. Do let me know if you owned her before and what you did to her along the way. The previous owner was Martin ? who only had her since June 2010. (bought on a whim from E...

Brought her home from Leeds today! Chuffed with my purchase - though Zombies should beware! (You need to see the stickers someone put on it!)
