He mentions Autobrite Direct for the seat dye.

Refitting wings.
Quick question folks.
What do you folks use for the sealing strips that go on the A and B posts,
when re fitting the wings. Are the strips still available, or is it a nice
narrow bead of Tiger seal or similar.
Thanks
Tim

Back to business after me short rest. Not much to report. Back seat area has been sealed over the welds. As you can see, ready now for some stone chip paint. https://i.imgur.com/iCQJm6d.jpg Rear wing metal repair is cleaned up, and a light skim of filler to level out the repair metal that was substa...

Silicone spray, how safe is that with the seal. I know washing up liquid is fairly corrosive
to rubber long term.

Yep Simons seals. The procedure is what I,m familiar with.
And no sealent is what I,m thinking. Do I need any method of lubrication for the seals?
Thanks

Re-Fitting glass with new seals.
Finally re assembling. I,d welcome advice from anyone thats done this already. Whats the best method of re fitting the glass with new seals, into nice clean opes, and keeping out the water. I know some chaps use a silicon sealant when fitting the new seal. Is it a necessary step, I,m assuming the se...

Re: We all having a knap?
I,ve spent the last 2 weeks sleeping upright in a chair, due to a slipped disc in my back. All thanks to sloppy lifting techniques when I had a superman moment with a ride on lawnmower, I went lifting something , then took a backward step still carrying the weight. But I visit the fasty ever...

Re: 1972 fastback. nwe 532k
I think I have now got a finish thats good enough for my needs.
After 5 coats of celly and wet,n,dry finishing using 1000, 1500,
2000,2500, and 3000,
And a quick coat of fine polish, I,ve got this.
And i'm gonna give it the thumbs up

Re: 1972 fastback. nwe 532k
I,ve done that too on occasions. The carving knife cut down to a short stubby blade is a great job. Its slim enough to slide into place with no damage, and its tough enough not to bend at all under any pressure. And its broad enough to ad leverage if needed. And 50 cents in the boot sale, how can yo...

Re: 1972 fastback. nwe 532k
Here is what I used to seperate the seals around the front and back screen. Its a shortened carving knife that I made when I used to make shoes, for cutting leather. Slips in under the seal from outside, and then push in firmly to get it just under the inner glass, not the seal. Then it slices the s...
