Re: New Front discs

I got my new discs yesterday from Germany, and they were only ordered earlier in the week, very fast turnaround. Winner for me is no customs duty to be paid. I used to buy all my vw stuff from the UK, but since the increase in vat, customs ect due to brexit, I am forced to shop elsewhere. I paid 188 ...

Re: '67 Fasty project

Its a great feeling when you can see the progress taking shape. Of course there will be lots of time when you are working loads, and you see very little :)
Its times like that you just keep ploughing on , and then it all comes together :)

Re: 1967 VW Variant

Sound like a lucky escape! Glad you are still with us! I think it was on the cards, as I have family history for dicky tickers. But cardiac surgeon who did the stents said my heart was 100% and no muscle death associated with it. If there was it cant be repaired once its deprived of oxygen for more...

Re: 1967 VW Variant

Nothing going on at the moment, I am just recovering from a heart attack. No major damage as I got to hospital before anything kicked in. Just needed a couple of stents, and I am well on the road to recovery. Back cycling 6kms a day now, so its all good. Stents are like a couple of helicoils :badgri...

Re: New Front discs

Just wait for delivery and the jobs a good un.. Had a busy day with an oil change, tappet check and re setting. Only 2 tho which was great. But it then refused to run nicely, and then I'm thinking I must have fekked up the adjustments. So valves were checked, checked and re checked, all good. So the...

Re: New Front discs

Went with Werk34.de and just got an email and tracking number. Super fast and 188 euro delivered.
If I had gone with a uk dealer i suspect it would have been a good bit more.

Re: New Front discs

The 01270 disc would have 52mm caliper bolt spacings & has a type 3 part number as well as the type 1 number it does state July 71 Offset from the face of the disc to face of the hub is different between the 2 discs (Hence different calipers) 3170 disc will have 76mm caliper bolt spacing & has the ...

Re: New Front discs

My new discs are 11mm That one won't fit & you'll knacker a new set of bearings proving yourself wrong I dont want to be wrong, thats why I am asking for guidance from the forum on this, and as my manufacture date is so close to what could be either disc I have not discerned exactly which one it is...

Re: New Front discs

Disc diameter and thickness sounds like a match to mine, although my disc is now 8 mm thickness.

My bolt distance on the caliper is 76 mm as far as I know.

Re: New Front discs

That paruzzi link is for a disc that is 11 mm. Mine currently is 8mm, so I doubt its lost 3 mm The 01270 is 9.5mm which probably sounds better. Is that the only difference between the 01270 and the 31270. There is probably a number stamped somewhere on my own that I can double check on the outer edg...

New Front discs

Where is the best place for me (Ireland) to buy 2 new front discs. My own are a bit on the thin side even without another skim. Currently 8 mm but in a very poor state, thats why i suspect the uneven braking on the front is due to the right hand disc braking surface is definitely not the full width ...

Re: Late 72 Fastback calipers.

Steering is all new, with a rebuilt steering box, All the wheels and tyres new and balanced and proper pressure All brake items new. Re: Late 72 Fastback calipers.

Hopefully not if the weather permits, but who knows.
Just got word back from brakesint.co.uk. None available, and not expected in either.

Back to the drawing board, after I bleed the poor caliper to see if it ups its game.

Re: Late 72 Fastback calipers.

I know that, but its gonn be off the road for weeks then, and I have waited long enough to drive it.

I might re bleed the front right again and see will that balance it out a bit better.. I presume the bc's are based in UK

Re: Late 72 Fastback calipers.

I must dig a bit deeper . I looked at brakesint.co.uk who sell calipers to fit, but at the moment they are out of stock. I am currently running in my engine after its rebuild, and its driving well. But I notice on braking that its pulling slightly to the right. Its not excessive , but noticeable eno...

Late 72 Fastback calipers.

I came across a post on a VW forum that says the calipers from a 1978-83 BMW 320 I will fit a late 72-73 Fastback.

Can anyone confirm or deny this, thanks.

Re: 1967 VW Variant

I have 2 NOS exhausts to fit this baby no problem.

THis is definitely a keeper. It starts quicker than my other fasty.

Just have to clean out all the crap from the seats, and check the brakes and steering,

and away we go.
