Is there any recommended lubrication for Type 3 Seat Runners ?
One of my Plastic Seat Runners has broken, so I’ll be replacing either just that one or all 4.
Only thing I can think of that is not going to melt and run away is Graphite.

Steve

Re: Seat Runner Springs
In2Rust, I don’t think the Seat Runner Springs really need to be there. I always took it that they did need to be there. They are part of the car as it was designed anyway. I now think they are only there to prevent against accidentally sliding the Seats off the Runners when adjusting them to the fo...

I would suggest that is not the Type 3 Specific 34ICT Kit you have got in that case. I always understood that the proper Type 3 Kits come with Air Filters Manifolds that did fit without any body mods.

Re: Drivers Seat
Had a look today at the 2 Drivers Seats I have. Found out how to adjust the Cable to release the Back of the Seat to fold it forwards. I think the very laid back Drivers Seat is due to wear on the Rake Adjustment Cam(s). Has anyone found a way of fixing that please ? Only thing I can think of is sti...

Re: Connecting to new washer jets
Assuming it is a Type 3 we are talking about ? I’ve done it but don’t remember exactly how. You need to take the Washer Jet out of the hole to push the tubing on to the connection on the back of the Jet. If the Jet is old then it may break taking it out. There is a hole somewhere in the bottom of th...

Drivers Seat
Asked on Wanted if anyone had a good Driver Seat, due to my Original Seat and then a used replacement Seat having got very, very laid back. What is it that makes the Seat get so laid back, and what can I do about it please ? I see 1600lenotchback has a Set of Front and Rear Seats for a Notch or Fast...

Seat Runner Springs
Just been swapping the Drivers Seat on the 1972 Variant. Expecting to have to press down the Spring Plate thing that stops the Seat sliding off the front of the inboard Runner. It’s not there ! Neither is the one for the Passenger Seat. I can only guess that the guy who did the “ Body Off “ maybe di...

Did the simple Mod. Cut a new HGV Schrader Tyre Valve extension in half. Removed Tube from Washer Bottle Cap. Fit cut half of HGV Schrader Tyre Valve extension to Washer Bottle Cap. Put Cap back on Bottle. Pressurised. Checked Washers. That worked. Didn’t use the 1 Metre extension. Just a short one,...

Re: steel wheels
I fitted new Original style 5.5” x 15” Wheels on my Type 3 with 185 65 15 Tyres. Not original but I like the look.
Only problem was I had to swap the Tyre for the Spare back to a 165 80 15 as the 185 would not fit in the Spare Wheel well. The 165 is tight as it is !

Re: Washer Bottle Cap & Tube.
That is not the case with the Replacement one supplied by VW Heritage. No problem blowing through that one without pressing the white tab in. It’s black not white on that one. The air blows out of a tiny hole near the tab. There is no such hole to be seen on my Original. Tried spraying the Original ...

Finally got around to looking at it. Removed the Valve end that screws onto the Spare Tyre Valve from the Original Tube & Cap Assembly Can not blow any air through the Tube. Did the same thing with the supposed replacement Tube & Cap Assembly bought from Heritage. I can blow through that one. Tried ...

Re: PHOTO CALL FOR NEW CLASSIC CAR TV SHOW
Interesting. But what were they thinking about with the modified Front Bumper ?
I know what mine cost to buy NOS from ex Club Chairnan Jay, then get them triple chromed to show standard. Why cut one up to narrow it when new ones are virtually unobtainable ?

Re: Quick chassis/floor question
I don’t know the answer but why not try asking the experts like VW ISP West who specialise in Type 3 rebuilds ? I have always found them very helpful.
alex@vwispwest.com or anthony@vwispwest.com
T’other experts would be Type 3 Detectives ?

Washer Bottle Cap & Tube.
Is there anything on here about how the Late Type 3 Windscreen Washer Bottle Cap and Tube works please ? My original one that was on the Type 3 when I bought the car in 1988 worked perfectly, until the car was stripped down for the Body Off rebuild. It never worked again after the rebuild. I always ...

OK Thankyou Couldn’t tell you how any of it works. That’s why I asked. When I went to school the only Computer that existed was called Colossus and lived at Blexley Park ! Just wondering why Posting Photos is so complicated on here please ?
On the Audi A2 Owners Club ( A2OC ) I can just Click on the Icon same as the one above here, 9th from the Left, and it takes me to my Photos on my iPad or Phone.
Clicking that same Icon on here all that happens is this :-

Yes. Body Off Resto September - October. I had considered that it might just be the thickness of the new Paint. Then I thought, no, couldn’t be. Maybe I’m wrong ?
