Club displays are not free any more, and you have to buy a ticket as well.

I don't think it's washing up liquid as it contains salt, but a couple of drops of liquid detergent are sometimes used in the flatting water to stop the paper dragging as you sand.

It would probably just sit there gathering dust anyway. I'm sure they worked with punched cards, after 30 odd years I can't imagine them being in tip-top condition.

Unfortunately not, I was on the way home from a job when I passed and asked to look around.
The chap there was pretty reluctant to let me in, and was adamant nothing was for sale, and I couldn't take any pics.

Re: 1971 VW Type 3 Fastback
I visited an old VW dealership in the middle of Wales this week, they had a diagnostic machine at the back of the workshop.
The chap there said it hadn't been used for 30 years, and looking at the layer of dust on it he was probably right.

Felt pretty good today, so spent an hour or so wiring the gauges. 6 pole connectors with ignition feed and ground, lighting feed and ground, oil pressure and temperature senders. https://i.postimg.cc/8c166svS/IMG-3259.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/RVZtC691/IMG-3258.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/J7qJWcw4/IMG-3...

We've got 3 tables selling parts for various models.
I'll put a list up nearer the time.

If I get round to fitting a stereo it'll probably go in the glovebox like I did in my bus. https://i.postimg.cc/J7XztSZj/013.jpg Still got all this and a load of other bits to fit. But I've been unwell for a few weeks now, so about an hour is my limit at the moment. https://i.postimg.cc/QN7JVj1v/003...

As broady says, you'll need one of each to make an adjustable track rod.

Great idea! Completely agree. Looks very good. Thanks, I was going to build a full centre console along the lines of the Mk I Golf unit, but couldn't be bothered. https://i.postimg.cc/3xy5Xxy0/golf_console.jpg It may happen at some point, probably when I need some storage, a cup holder and a ...

What year is your car?
Have a look at this link and download the owner's manual.
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/type3.php
There should only be 8A fuses up to 1967 MY, and then 10x 8A and 2x 16A fuses fitted from August 1968 (1968 MY).

I seem to have accumulated lots of new parts, but don't seem to have the time to start putting them on the car. Anyway, a set of extra gauges for when the new engine gets installed, but that's still a long way off at the moment though. https://i.postimg.cc/RFccb1H2/009.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/6p3f5...

Tracking, camber, tyre pressures, etc.
Any play in the beam? My old beam had loads of wear that couldn't be adjusted out and would go where it wanted to, especially on bumpy roads.

Re: Brake Problem
I do recall one of Editors favourite warnings is not to mess with the pushrod length  That's fine if you're dealing with Genuine VW parts straight from the factory. We couldn't get enough pressure to the rear brakes to stop the wheels rotating with the pedal pushed down, and the pushrod would...

Re: Brake Problem
I had really long pedal travel after changing the master cylinder. I modified/extended the pushrod to get the minimum free play and it's been fine since.

Re: which fuse?
Could be the brake light switch on the master cylinder.
Take the two cables off the brake switch and connect them together, if the brake lights come on then it's the switch that's faulty.
If not, it's the fuse/cable/connections.
