Westfalia 321 073 tow hitch 1977 date stamp

Bought this for my 1972 crossover bay but its the wrong one
Someone has mentioned it could be for a type 3?
Had one on my old early square but didn't take a note of the badge i d plate
Anyone happen to know?

Sounds like first generation Passat (saloon) if the numbering system follows VW practice

This query has been answered on the Late Bay forum.
However, for anybody following it on this forum it fits a '72-'76 Bay.
My January '79 single cab Bay has a 321 125 towbar as pictured below.
